Guys…seriously…
If you want to slay people, please play slayer matches. If you come into a CTF match and just spawn kill and/or hold the flag for the whole game, it totally ruins it for everybody on the other team. I seriously understand the strategy behind holding the flag if you just want to wait until the team re-establishes mid, or until power weapons drop…but I just got through a match in which I was completely outmatched.
I play with my wife, and while we are okay, we cannot stand up to some of these teams. It may pad your K/Ds to slaughter us, but we try to be people of principle and not quit. We will take our beating in most cases because we don’t want to deprive gamers of their scores when they earn them. Unfortunately, when we are obviously out-classed, some players (you know who you are) will just try to humiliate us. I know that morality and good character doesn’t mean much in this Internet age, but I think this shows bad character all the way around. I will take my beating. I will get creamed in CTF, but to not even be able to get out past the 25 without getting mowed down is depressing and ruins the game.
If I want you guys to slay the life out of me, I will go to a Slayer match, where I know that will happen. But sometimes, I just want to get some objective games in to help lighten things up a bit (which is difficult since the objective playlist is a barren population). I know this is jumbled and may even sound a bit whiny, but I hope that some of you may understand and try to encourage your teams to avoid this behavior.
For what it is worth, I am that guy who will betray you if you try to hold the flag on the last score on my team. I simply can’t stand it. If I get booted…I get booted, but the other team doesn’t deserve to go through that.
when i played 4 i always stayed at the flag no to gain kill but b/c it never failed that my moron teammates couldnt guard the flag if the entire other teams cpntrollers stopped working…

Sorry, I was specifically referring to neutral flag matches. I don’t mind if all five (or 8 if it’s BTB flags) stay on home base and protect, but in Neutral flag one can hold the flag and choose to not score it until they are forced to or time runs out. The game that really ticked me off was a neutral match that we were dropped into. Still down a man, and playing with two lower CSR players, a team of 5 players came at us with cars, mechs, and snipers. They left the flag at the fifty and just slayed us for about 6 solid minutes. We managed to score it twice because they didn’t care about flagging, but then they deployed one player to run flags. He quickly scored two, and held the winning third score until regulation time AND OVERTIME ran out. My K/D got wrecked, which is part of the game, but it was unnecessary in CTF.

Objective based gametypes sadly are being used for statpadding and boosting more and more frequently (Usually through spawncampkilling), Grifball and CTF being at the top for it. Those people tend to forget the LIVE Code of Conduct they agreed to when they created their account. Boosting is cheating and hence is against Code of Conduct, as is intentionally degrading the gameplay experience for others by playing a gametype intentionally in a fashion that it is not meant to be played in.
As I said in previous instances, if you can score the objective in an objective gametype, where that clearly is the way that gametype is meant to be played, then why wouldn’t you? A while back on regular CTF on Simplex, I had an opposing team legitimately capture four of our flags and score them and then for eight and half minutes sit there with Battle Rifles and the Flagnum, holding our flag spawncampkilling us, all of them aiming at one person, killing them as they spawned in, all headshots, looked at the next spawn, rinse and repeat. The only chance we had was when they had to reload and that didn’t do much for us. You bet I reported the entire opposing team that game for cheating due to them boosting commedations and statpadding (Increasing their K/D ratio through ill-legit methods).
So I know your pain on that. Whenever a person or team does this, just have to submit a player review, Avoiding the Players, Unsporting Conduct being the reason, then Filing a Complaint, Cheating being the reason. If a person is reported enough this way for repeatedly boosting and stat-padding, they can earn themselves a ban.

Oh, I definitely avoided them, but did not file a formal complaint. I will be sure to do that in the future.

Yup, if they’re violating Code of Conduct, which doing what you described meets that criteria, via Spawncampkilling to Statpad and Boost Commedations, as well as intentionally degrade the gameplay experience for others, feel free to use the features provided by Xbox LIVE that is a part of you paying for LIVE Gold to report them for cheating in those ways.
People who would support said boosting would tell us we ‘have to get better’ to prevent us from being spawntrapped, which is actually crap when they are the ones who thought to abuse the poorly setup in an objective gametype to boost and statpad, which is not the way the objective gametype is meant to be played, hence the name objective gametype, not named Spawncampkill gametype. You know those players like to say essentially “We’re not cheating by exploiting the poor spawn setup in an objective gametype for ill-legit personal gain via statpadding and boosting that violates the Code of Conduct we agreed to when we created our LIVE accounts instead of scoring the objective as we should be, you’re just not good enough at the game.”
In reality, there’s no excuse for it, which is why I remind people who have to deal with said nonsense that LIVE’s features are there. Hope I was able to help you out though. As I said if a player recieves enough reports from enough players if they consistently do this day in and day out (And there ar eplayers that do that), they can earn themselves a ban.
It’s really awful when people play for their KD (as if this means anything) rather than just playing to win. I completely understand killing a few guys so you have a clear path to your base for the score, but there’s a clear difference between slaying to rack up KD and slaying to win the game.
This is so much of a worse issue in 5 then 4. It is so horrible now it seriously isn’t funny. And 343 basically made it so you have to say and get your KDA ruined because god forbid you leave one game and get banned for “quitting too many matchmaking games”
