CTF playlist changes: Why Infinity CTF?

> The Capture the Flag playlist will be receiving some updates as well. For starters, Relay and Exile will be added to the playlist. Also, the flag reset time on Adrift, Abandon, Solace and Relay will be dropped to 15 seconds to account for the smaller map size. The biggest change, however, will be the addition of Infinity CTF to the voting options – in this new variant, players will have the ability to call in personal ordnance in order to add variety, power and, in some cases, total chaos to their flag runs. Keep in mind that because of the high amount of points associated with objective play, players who capture a flag will immediately receive personal ordnance in exchange for their hard work (in addition to the traditional pat on the back). Be on the lookout for Infinity CTF in the Capture the Flag playlist

Infinity ctf? Don’t know about this. I want to think this will motivate players to actually cap the flag. But all I foresee is teammates betraying the flag carrier when he nears home so they can cap it for that instant ordinance. Even if they turn Friendly Fire off, still just run them over with a ghost.

Infinity Slayer was bad enough, now I have to deal with my enemy getting lucky ordnance drops in Ctf too? I’m hoping that this gametype doesnt get voted for often, but given the mentality of gamers nowadays where everything must be spoon fed, I doubt that will happen. I don’t understand how 343 thought that rewarding someone with a speed boost while giving someone rockets for the same amount of kills was a good idea. They would rather let all the kiddies online feel happy that they got a shiny new sniper rifle than make a fair and balanced game. Now, if the ordnance drops weren’t random, it wouldn’t be as much of a problem. Get a certain amount of kills, and you could get a set of options that is permanent for the entire game. Nothing like rockets, but low level power weapons.

I think “1 Flag CTF” would have been a better addition than “Infinity CTF”

But hey, maybe it will be better than I think. As long as I play with my team it might not be a problem (teammates killing the flag carrier to plant it and get the ordinance for themselves)

I really want to think this will be fine. But noting how boring INF Slayer got and how fast it got there… I am not amused by this move.

Sure will be fun when the other team gets an Incineration Cannon (+ Ammo perk) for a single flag cap and then sit in their base for the whole game…

CTF is the playlist that most desperately needs to be played in the old style - weapons spawning on map to stop people just sitting in their base, not personal ordnance to encourage that behaviour.

Even worse… Gets Incineration Cannon and helps his team storm through, grab the enemy flag, escorts the carrier and betrays him, takes the flag, caps it and gets another Personal Ordinance Drop.

I hope the “boot this player?” option comes on easily for this playlist.

I would much prefer a 1-flag gametype. Now we can get power weapons delivered to our doorstep to defend the objective with. Fantastic.

One of the main reasons I enjoy the 5v5 Objective playlists is because there was no personal ordinance, making the game feel less like a clusterfudge. Not any more.

Better settings for respawn/return time, however, and Relay is better than nothing at all. Exile can go die, but good with the bad.

Lol another reason not to play CTF in this game, just hope the other objective playlists doesn’t get infected with the infinity crap.

From the sounds of things, Infinity CTF will be a gametype added to the Capture the Flag playlist. Therefore, players have a chance to vote or not to vote for this gametype.

So don’t vote for it.

I hate Relay and I’ve played enough Exile in BTB to hate it as well…

Isn’t it clear that most of us hate ordnances??

> Isn’t it clear that most of us hate ordnances??

I thought it was. The last poll I saw had it will into the 90s against. Taken with a grain of salt that most polls that people elect to take are skewed to the neggative… I would say it is safe to say more than Half the population doesnt agree with it. More likeyly than not, it is also the half that cares a lot… maybe even too much about Halo.

Infinity CTF is a bad, BAD idea…

will just draw more players to pad their kill stats on defense.

It is already hard enough to grab the flag on Adrift with a team on full defense.

Yap. Pretty sure the first team to cap a flag will win 90% of the time. That first Cap results in first ordinance. That first ordinance translates to an easier time to cap a second flag… rinse repeat. The more I think about it, the more I worry.

Want to wait and give it an honest shot. I want to give 343’s POD idea a chance… But I did that with InfSlayer already. I really hope they drop this FAD soon.

What a piss-poor idea. Honestly, why? Why not add a real gametype, like 1-Flag CTF? You have so many asymmetrical maps, and regular CTF sucks on them.

Ragnarok CTF was already broken by the random world ordinance drops, I’d hate to see how Infinity CTF would play. Seriously, tell me blue team doesn’t have an advantage once the binary rifle drops for them. They get a nice little sniper perch and easy access to the Pelican while red team’s binary for some reason spawns asymmetrically to blue’s and is on the river arch. Stupid design.

Like other people have mentioned, why the hell would they add personal ordinance to CTF, but not bring back 1 Flag? Are they trying to ruin the least-damaged playlist in the game too? The fact that there’s no 1 Flag but Abandon and Complex are in the CTF playlist is a joke from the start, but now with personal ordinance?! Kevin Franklin and Josh Holmes should be looking for new jobs if -Yoink!- knew what was best for their golden goose franchise.

Just wait until you play it to start judging it.

> Just wait until you play it to start judging it.

Bro, it’s not e3 2011 anymore. You can stop repeating that phrase. We know the mechanics of this game (better than 343 apparently.) Personal ordinance is an inherently flawed system. Combining it with the negative changes that have been made to the basic mechanics of CTF is sure to result in an even worse flag gametype. We’ve been playing the Halo 4 beta for 3 months now, and 343 is clueless as to how they’re going to try to “fix” this game, even though we could have told them what needed to happen from the beginning of the dev cycle. Trying to mimic other games’ hallmark features poorly in an environment they don’t belong in doesn’t draw in new fans or “modernize” Halo, it only dilutes the game and alienates longtime fans that loved Halo for what it was. I want a Halo game, not Call of Halo: Everyone Gets Power Weapons For No Good Reason.

How can you say that when most people play Infinity?? Obviously most love POD’s otherwise they wouldn’t be playing Infinity Slayer (let’s just forget the fact that there are no other slayer options…thanks 343).

Trolling? Or just sarcasm? Can’t tell in text.

Yes InfSlayer is most populated but as you said… What other damn option is there?

That’s like saying during a famine “ever body is eating rats, everybody must love eating rats!” Failed logic, 343 should take note.
