Sorry but I couldn’t find the answer so can someone please help me. Twice I’ve been in BTB CTF and have captured the flag, got all the way back to our base, our flag is gone and the captured flag won’t register where our flag was so I run around like an idiot looking at the ground thinking I’m sure it goes here and get killed and my team misses a capture, what am I doing wrong as I’m use to CTF in H4??? Kind regards the slow learning Spartan… sigh
It’s different than in Halo 4. Your flag has to be back at home base before you can capture it.
Next time chill in a good little hide spot, and wait for the return. It’s a little nerve racking, but oh so satisfying when you pull it off.
“You flag is away” should appear on the top middle of your screen. If that is there, then you can not capture your flag.
Your flag has to be at the home base to get a capture. If your flag is gone and you bring an enemy flag to your base it won’t count as a capture
I often see the opposite of this happening in throwback playlists. New kids are so used to the H5 rules that they don’t realize they can cap while their flag is away under H3 rules and so they hold onto the flag instead of scoring.
The enemy team has your flag so you can’t capture it. Halo 4 didn’t have that? Strange I gusss it has been a while since I played it. But it’s normal no worries mate haha. Just next time hide somewhere safe until your team can return your flag and you’ll be good to go

This reminds me of a funny story. Back when I used to play one-flag CTF with a friend, we had this strategy where I’d take the flag to our base and wait until my friend had cleared the middle of the map. So when I scored, he could grab the next flag right away. But one time I was waiting to score at our base, teammates started shooting me and one of them ended up betraying me, presumably because they thought I was just holding on to the flag for no reason. Needless to say, it messed up our strategy and the other team got the next flag, but I thought it was kind of funny.

Yeah, my team won a game that way which was funny. Their flag carrier was just hiding in his base with the flag while we just walked it back and scored it to win.

I have lost quite a few matches this way. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ve ever won like this.
Thanks everyone! I feel like such a tool now, I’m sure my team was like “who’s this guy…” lol. Pretty embarrassing but now I know and I shall change my strategy. Thanks again
