CTF needs Major changes

It is nearly impossible to cap when two GOOD teams are playing each other. The game looks great, but they royally screwed up a gametype that has worked incredibly well for 3 games before H4. Easiest fix is to just go back to classic Flag mechanics. Otherwise? Lose the “Waypoint” over the Flag Carrier’s head. Increase Flag movement speed.

As it is currently it doesn’t work as it should when 8 equally skilled players are playing.

yea dude give the op a break, hes just stating a problem that he thinks should be fixed.

343 has already stated that features may be added to recreate classic ctf. I’d just like to state that if you are watching the MLG videos you have to remember that this is their first time playing the gametype it takes a while to get use to, over time players will get a feel for it.

They have Post-Launch updates for a reason. This is going to be one of them. These new flag mechanics may have worked in the studio with the designers and other randoms playing, but with two equally skilled teams that know what they are doing it is resulting in games that take forever because it takes a minor miracle to set up a flag cap. Go watch MLG Dallas. They just played a 20-minute game on Solace that resulted in a 2-1 final score.

That game was actually fun and intense to watch.
I like it alot.

You’re the worst kind of person. In any industry constructive criticism is needed to better a product. But you turn to blind hatred of anyone who says anything bad about what has been made. Just because 343i ‘broke their backs for this game’ does not mean that they cannot improve the game. This is the worst kind of thing a fan can do for a studio; blindly say yes to every decision that they make.

We only want to help make and be part of the best game ever by having our concerns heard, but people like you decide that we should be ‘stabbed’ for trying to voice our opinions.

Why are you mad that somebody is suggesting an update to the game that would make it subjectively better for others and broaden the audience?

So far, this is the only thing people can complain that 343 has done wrong, and the game isn’t out yet.

Look, 343 has created something that looks like it will be amazing. At this point, I gotta believe they’ve at least earned the benefit of the doubt. Or at least enough trust that if this gametype doesn’t work out that they’ll fix it if it actually turns out to be broken. All of these complaints have exasperated me and most of the community. At this point, the game comes out in three days, why are you even bothering to make this thread.

The best thing to do is to ignore his post completely.

Anyways I didn’t see the game in question, but the ctf game I seen last night went fairly quickly. While 343 will still possibly put the old options in I feel that players will have to warm up to the new mode in order to make the game go faster. Even in older MLG CTF games I’ve seen long game times, it has nothing to do with the modes.

If 2 good teams fought each other it would be hard to cap no matter what.

Meaning 343 made the maps and games good. If they weren’t, then 2 good teams would be sooo unbalanced.

MLG is playing ctf right now. Both teams have capped 2 flags. 2 good teams seem to make it work. it’s not impossible, just harder.

While I don’t like the new ctf it doesn’t mean it won’t work.

I’ve got to reserve judgement until I actually play it but still, even in old CTF if the teams were balanced and had half a brain it was hard to score.

I watched the MLG event players playing CTF and the game mode seemed perfectly fine and playable at that level to me. IT SHOULD BE HARD TO CAPTURE IF THE TEAMS ARE OF EQUAL SKILL.

They are playing a 5-flag variant on one of the smallest maps in the game and it STILL had to go to overtime to finish 3-2. If you’ve been watching the tournament you should have noticed by now that very few CTF games are being outright won in regulation. Very few.

The first thing that needs to go is the “Kill” waypoint over the carrier’s head. Makes it incredibly hard to do anything with the flag.

I’m sorry, but what this tells me is that these games are close, intense, and probably a lot of fun.

Doesnt putting a waypoint over the flag caarriers head ruin it? Insta death
