I think there needs to be some sort of reward, either award/commendation based or points, for carrying the flag. It would likely have to be based off a certain distance from its home in each map.
I know you have the opportunity for flag kill rewards but it’s frustrating being one of the only guys pulling the enemy flag out of their base, making it most of the way back home just to finally get smoked and someone else gets the capture. Be nice to get some sort of tangible credit for doing the heavy lifting.

Most of the time you get “flag assist” points but only if the flag is captured 5-15 seconds from when you held and died with it. The size of the map does affect, slightly, the time duration of getting the flag assist. But hopefully for h5 right?
The idea is bittersweet for players that legitimately play the game. It’s a great idea, but I personally feel it will further the mindset of ill-legitimate players to wrongfully grind commedations to see Capture the Flag as ‘hold the enemy flag and spawn kill’ the flag. Basically ill-legit players together on a team will cheat via boosting, ruining the gameplay experience of the other team by spawncamping kills, while the one guy with the flag will run back and forth holding the flag on the other side of the map to grind up the distance.
This idea would be perfect if they implement additions to the banhammer that I mention in this thread .
