CSR

So I’ve had Halo 5 since launch (I have the Halo 5 Xbox One) and I’ve always had a question about how ranked arena and CSR works in general for placement. I know that after placement its a combination of KDA, if you win or lose, and Medal count, but it seems as for placement it is different - my friend and I both completed placement for Ranked Slayer and I had 6 losses and 4 wins and he had 8 wins and 2 losses but I placed Gold 6 and he placed Gold 4. If anyone could shed some light on this it would really help.

Lose matches to lose CSR and win matches to gain CSR. Your stats and performance don’t relate to the ranking. If you lose, you’re gonna lose CSR regardless. But for the exact placement how you play is definitely factored. You may have been simply playing better than your friend in the games you won compared to them. It’s like if both of you were playing the same games and they were nearly always at the bottom of the leaderboard, then they will not place in the same position or a higher one than yourself.

IIRC at least lol

Assists and medals don’t factor into your rank. Basically, whether you win or lose, your kills per minute and both team’s overall MMR levels are the main factors that determine how much CSR you’ll get or lose which can be +/- 1-30. Also, your MMR (your actual rank behind the scenes) isn’t completely determined on wins/losses either. You can win, but still have your MMR go down if you under performed from what the system expected you to get, but if you were put in a game that the system expected you to lose, your MMR can go up if you exceeded its expectations.
