CSR what's the point ? (Slayer) 4v4

I’m platinum, first time. It seems to me that the only thing CSR does is it gives or takes a point for wins/losses. I’m not seeing anything more than that. Nothing related to individual play. So being lucky this season I was pushed to platinum.

There is something else going on in the background that I can’t see. How do I know this? Because Halo knows I’m not good enough. It only matches me against silver/gold players. I rarely see another platinum player. Where is MY ranking. I don’t want harder players I just want to know my true number/rank for comparison to others, myself or just as another statistic.

CSR what is the point? Seriously, other than me knowing if I’m winning or losing 50% of the time from my original rank.

I don’t see a point in the competitive skill ranking system either.

If I’m getting beat handily by someone of a lower rank why should I be locked in at a higher rank. If my k/d ratio is horribly bad but the team wins why punish me with an even harder match!

The reason why is is putting you against silver and gold players is because you have silvers and golds on your team that are of a lower tier (such as gold 1, gold 2, ect). If you get a full team of platinums you can play 2 golds and 2 diamonds or 3 golds and 1 onxy. The way it places you is kind of based of your rank from last season, lets say you were a gold 3 last season this season your placement matches will start of against silver 5’s and if you beat them the game knows to not put you against anyone lower then silver 5, next match it will put you against platinum 4’s and if you lose the game will know your skill is somewhere between silver 5 and platinum 4 and it will take the rest of your placement matches to find your exact rank. On the subject on gaining and losing CSR, if you lose you will lose CSR no matter what same goes for winning. But depending on how you did dictates how much, me and my friend at one point were both onxy 1722 we lost a match i had a KDA of -2.3 and he had a KDA of 1.6. I went down to onxy 1705 he went down to onxy 1709. later down the road we were both onxy 1754 we won a match i had a KDA of 5.0 he had a KDA of 2.3, i became onxy 1769 and he became onxy 1765.

Playing with people under your skill level will make you rank their rank. I played arena with golds and got place gold (I am a high Onyx-Champ player)

I just looked and found the last 2 games I played with no unranked players I went back 6 pages or so of games could find no more that contained no unranked players. What if I add them up, (Bronze 1 = 1, 2 = 2, S1 = 7 etc…)

  • Team 1: S5(11), S5(11), G1(13), S4(10) : 45
  • Team 2: G1(13), P1(19), S3(9), S2(8) : 49
  • Team 1: S6(12), G1(13), S4(10), S3(9) : 44
  • Team 2: P1(19), G4(16), P1(19), P2(20) : 74
I’ll have to keep looking, although the first game supports your theory, the 2nd one is quite a mismatch. I can’t test Onyx way of ranking. It maybe a completely different setup.

It seems to serve no purpose in slayer 4 v 4 once you are ranked. It only shows if I’m winning or losing 50% of the time from my original rank. I just would love to see some information on an individual ranking.

This is why I hate the monthly reset just give me the 1-50 to have something to work to instead of going hey reset. Theres no motivation to get better if I am just constantly reset.

I’m guessing we all have a hidden skill ranking which makes seasons and especially placement matches pointless. I’ve played around with placement matches as experiments for several seasons. Placement match win rate doesn’t really seem to impact ranking very much. Placements won’t drop you very far even if you lose all 10 and never seem to advance you if you win most of them.
