CSR ruined this game.

CSR was probably the most sought for thing expected from 343 from the start. Why they didn’t incorporate it from the release is probably the biggest mystery of all in terms of attracting the most players and keep them throughout the following months after release. But now that it is available i want out now.

For starters, why isn’t there two separate playlist, ranked and social? In the previous halos there was a specific playlist for people playing competitively and a specific playlist for people who just want to have fun. Now there is just one which kills the social aspect of the game.

Second, the join-in progress aspect. Although 343 claims to have fixed this issue as of April 30th 2013. The issue in itself is join-in progress. It should be eliminated completely for CSR. Why? Well since you have no choice but to play competitively if you jump into a game where the other team is winning by even 40 that is all it takes at that level of skill.

For example The game puts me into a CSR Big Team Battle with the score already 190 to 100. Since my level of CSR is high the increase in players means nothing and the team winning has a strong foothold and has all the power weapons and have ordinances. 343 doesn’t understand that players joining will always be at a disadvantage. The game in the end turned out to be 1000 to 930. Close but there was no way we were going to catch up at that high of a CSR with the other team with power ups. Join-In Progress kills your CSR i would say 9 times out of 10 if you join a game and the other team is winning you are going to lose hard. You aren’t playing Noobs, you are playing lvl 40s with an agenda.

If i joined a social big team battle then yes 343 it would make sense for join-in progress because more then likely there are noobs playing which can make up for the difference. But with everyone with a high lvl CSR even 40 pt lead is enough to win.

All i’m saying is not all the time do i want to play competitively. My little brother and roommates want to play and actually have fun. Hell sometimes i want to have fun.

Understand you guys aren’t doing a good job at all. Think things through 343. I normally wouldn’t comment until you guys destroyed the fun aspect of the game.

343i has basically said that the individual CSRs are more of a “fun rank” than a competitive one. The playlists with individual CSRs are supposed to be the equivalent of social playlists. However, the community doesn’t treat them that way.

I am in agreement that segregated playlists are the best way to go. That’s why Halo 3 is my preferred Halo multiplayer of the bunch.

However, for a casual like me there is still a way to enjoy Halo 4: just don’t care about CSR.

That’s it. And don’t care about any of your stats really. Join in Progress taught me that a long time ago. Sure, there’s plenty of people that post here that have great win/loss ratios… But mine has turned into utter bunk when compared to my Halo Reach and Halo 3 win/loss, and that’s with my K/D going up in this game!

So just don’t think about it. Hopefully 343i will have segregated lists in the future, because I’m always down for laughing my -Yoink- off over trying to score sure victories. It is true that both play styles have remarkably different philosophies behind them.

the way SR in halo 4 is set up makes the social and ranked less anoying than halo 3 as in my opinion halo 3 -Yoinked!- itself with EXP and social together but in halo 4 you earn XP thats not 1 per match if u get what im sayin

in all fairness it would make more snce for the social and ranked split to be in halo 4 than halo 3

OP, A few things:

  1. Don’t join BTB by yourself. You’re asking for a frustrating experience with many loses.

  2. 343i explained why it wasn’t in the game from the beginning and they continually explain why it won’t be in the game now (only on waypoint). How you keep missing this information is a mystery.

  3. You losing 1000-930 in BTB would have happened regardless of CSR.

I don’t think it ruined the game I just think that 343 just really doesnt know what they are doing. Personally I dont think they went about it the right way. Hopefully for H5 they put a ranked/social system like H3 had. I think the matchmaking system in H3 was the best one halo ever had.

Imo csr has not improved the game. Jip matches seem to have increased, and games seem to be even more badly mismatched. I have defended h4 for months, but I am just about ready to give it a miss.

OP, you must understand the population is not high enough for there to be a ranked and social playlist, maybe in Halo 3 when it had over 250,000 people. But right now I don’t see that working.

To your point number 2. They claimed the reason for not having csr at launch was so players wouldnt take advantage of the new game glitches. But thats not a excuse because the game was in development for so long and they had millions of willing players to test it out. Even if some players exploited launch glitches in csr playlist they clould easily reset it after the first week. Theres no excuse to not have it in the game from the beginning. It would of kept so many players with the game.

Pt 3. I would of won if i started from the begining. No doubt

you have social playlists… there called infinity.

How can a rank ruin a game that already had problems from the beginning.

How about just get rid of JIP? ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED!

> 343i has basically said that the individual CSRs are more of a “fun rank” than a competitive one. The playlists with individual CSRs are supposed to be the equivalent of social playlists. However, the community doesn’t treat them that way.

Two problems there:

1, It’s called COMPETITIVE SKILL RANKING. If it was only meant to be fun, it should have been FSR. Though I can imagine that rather quickly being backronymed to mean “f***ing stupid people”.

2, We, the players, determine what is and isn’t used as a method of competition against each other and not 343. If me and my friends decided K/D is all we care about in relation to each other, than CSR is irrelevant for us. Since the bulk of players are using CSR to compete with each other, CSR is competitive and not “fun”. I’ll be honest, though, I have no idea what the hell that even means.
