CSR rank confusion...

I’ve read through the recent post about the CSR system and how it will work with regards to your rank, and tiers within that rank. I have a point of confusion that I would like to have clarified.

It states that if you win games, you’ll logically increase through the 6 tiers within your rank, and if you continue to win, you’ll rank up to the next tier set. However, it also says that losing will NOT result in you dropping into a lower rank, but that rank loss will stop once you reach the first tier within your current rank. How will this work?

If after your initial 10 game placement period is over, and you’re assigned a rank (let’s say it’s Gold 3), you’ll never drop into the Silver rank regardless of how many games you lose? Or is there just an extra large buffer of games you’re allowed to lose before being kicked out of Gold and into Silver? And after your placement matches, is it possible to be placed into a tier higher than 1 within whatever rank you’re assigned? For example, can you ONLY be initially placed into Silver 1, Gold 1, etc. or is it possible to placed into Silver 2 or Gold 4?

Because if you indeed can’t be demoted to a lower rank tier, wouldn’t this inevitably result in a top-loaded rank distribution as more and more people manage to rank up while nobody initially placed in high ranks is being kicked out?

Or maybe I’m missing something…lol

I believe you can be ranked into any tier (1, 2, 3, 4, and so on), but I am not 100% sure. However, what you read was correct.

Say you get ranked into Gold 5. You can de-rank all the way to Gold 1, but you’ll never go to Silver 7. You’ll keep staying at Gold 1 no matter how many times you lose.

I don’t believe you can get demoted a rank for losing matches, but I think that the Seasons will probably play a part in ensuring everyone can’t go up to Semi-Pro and stay there forever

Josh Holmes addresses it in this post. The only divisions you can get stripped of are Onyx and Champion.

Alright, thanks for the answers everyone! Is the season system ubiquitous across all matchmaking modes, or only present in delineated ones?

And from the answers provided, it would appear that the initial 10 placement matches for each season are incredibly important. Though the mathematical difference between, for example, Bronze 6 and Silver 1, is small, the psychological difference will be enormous in knowing that you can avoid the “dreaded” Bronze rank for the rest of the season.

i can see what you mean cus my mate had 10 lucky games and is now in diamond yet his skill level is more of a silver or gold.

I got a diamond rank in one of the modes, and now I think I have to wait for the season to finish before I play that mode because there is no way that I can compete with the Diamonds, I’m more of a gold-silver player.

It reflects in your k/d. You see a guy with a negative KDA then you can assume he got lucky in his placement matches and I assume it will readjust the following season.

As for your first 10 initial games. I have a theory that the 10 games are based slightly off your KDA for those 10 games. I say this because my buddies and I played all 10 games together in shotty snipes and we went 9-1. He got thrown in diamond with a KDA of about 2.5 where I was thrown in platinum with a KDA of about 1.5. I say this because your initial balancing could be based off something related to personal play which helps for more accurate balancing. Idunno just a theory
