CSR - Incorrect placements

Like many players I was excited by the idea of a competitive ranking system being implimented.
The purpose of this system being to pair players of similar skills, so regardless of ability the matches remain competitive.
Unfortunately after playing in the system for over a month it has become clear that there is a blaring issue with the system and that is the “Incorrectly placed”.

these players after playing their 10 games have been placed in a division that far exceeds their actual skill level.
This is due to early games where players were equally new and inexperienced, players being carried by friends and generally luckiness.
While the said issue can happen in reverse, skilled players being placed in lower divisions, they can simply prove that fact by battling through their opponents to where they rightfully belong. The problem with these incorrectly placed players is they simply can’t compete at the expected level. Instead they play mearly as a weighted spectater that burdens their teammates and gifts their enemies.

The most obvious fix for this is to remove the checkpoint system that currently opporates.
When someone reaches a high rank, they should still have to compete to prove they are worthy of that rank.
The counter arguement to this is the de-Rankers that purposely lower their Rank to bully lower skilled opponents. If they actually wanted to do this they could easily play poorly for their initial 10 games and manipulate the match to remain in that division.

Personally I don’t think players should be able to achieve Onyx during their initial 10 games, regardless of skill. You should be required to battle your way up the ranks and again, prove you are deserving of said ranking.
I would like to hear other people’s thoughts on this subject.

I feel as if the CSR system is not that reliable. I feel like I was incorrectly placed in the FFA playlist; I won 5 of the 10 games that were filled with diamond and a few onyx players, yet I was placed in platinum. I know that I am not spectacular at Halo 5 based off of my K/D, but winning most matches against platinum players does not seem fair.

I don’t know how having everyone starting off at the same rank would work; I feel like too many matches would be unbalanced. Once the CSR starts to reset at every season, I think that the game should try to match teams with similar KDA’s in order to balance games better. Granted, that might be a much more difficult thing to do, but it might make more games feel balanced.

I’ve found Swat and FFA to be the most inaccurate with placements.

what I mean by removing the checkpoint is this safe region of the level 1 divisions. If you continue to lose and perform poorly you should still be negatively effected to level 6 in the lower division.

I AGREE THERE ARE ISSUES HERE WITH THE CSR SYSTEM BUT THATS WITH ANY RANKING SYSTEM. HOWEVER IF THEY WOULD ONLY ALLOW U TO RANK BETWEEN BRONZE,SILVER,GOLD WOULD BE MY RECOMENDATION THEN WORK PAST PLATINUM AND DIAMOND LIKE I HAVE HAD TO DO SINCE I WAS PAIRED WITH CRAPPY PLAYERS DURING MY 10 GAME SPAN AND STARTED AS GOLD SO YEAH

i actually hate on ranked matchmaking barely win matches always have atleast 20 deaths and no more than 5 kills due to the game thinking i´m better than i acutally am

I could argue the same thing but in reverse. If you place high skilled players too low then it makes it bad for the opponents they play against. It also carries and almost gives a free win to players on their team who are not as skilled but had the luck to be matched with them. I think there should be slight CSR tweaks especially to how FFA and Swat are decided, however I do think if someone does well enough in the placement matches to be placed in Onyx or even Champion then they should.

Who while I’m sure it happens more than advertised atleast these players can work their way through the divisions to earn their rightful place. The players that are placed higher are permanent burdens unable to play in any other division.

The reason I suggest getting rid of the Onyx and Champion placements is that it is so common for false Onyx positioning, especially in FFA and Swat. They should still have to atleast prove themselves in the diamond division to earn the rank.
