Will it be Individual scoring CSR or win/loss based CSR?
It hasn’t been announced sadly. I’ll try dropping a tweet to Bravo, Quinn & Halo Waypoint, will let you know if I get a reply.
I hope it’s a Win/Loss measurement. Stuff like that promotes teamwork and makes it less desirable to camp.
thanks!

As all other Slayer variants, such as BTIS (including BTS), IS (including SP), SWAT, Rumble Pit,Snipers etc etc are individual based scoring, it would be wrong to have Legendary Slayer be other than Individual based too.
Personally,I do not give a Yoink as I do not care about KD or CSR at all.

But it’s also supposed to be a competitive playlist, so it should be win/loss based.

No it isn’t, Throwdown is
I’m imagining it’ll be W/L. 343i has said this playlist is supposed to be a stepping stone to Throwdown and as such it should provide a more competitive environment not just with its settings but with its ranks too. To do otherwise would be silly in my mind.

Please explain to me why you think this isn’t a competitive playlist? I’d love to read this.
The impression I get from reading about legendary slayer leads me to believe it will be win/loss based.
It would be redundant to have two individually based 4v4 slayer playlists.
From my understanding it’s going to be only AR starts so I don’t think too many players are going to consider the playlist competitive with a spray and pray starting weapon.
That is a good question. I hope there is a response.

Because it doesn’t use “competitive” settings (ie. BR/precision weapon starts, no radar, most weapons taken off the map MLG-style), and we already have a dedicated competitive playlist : Team Throwdown.
Nowhere has it ever been said that Legendary Slayer was supposed to be a competitive playlist.

The game is a competition, you play to win. It’s as simple as that.

I don’t, I play for the sole purpose of enjoying myself. I don’t care whether I win or lose. I’m sure that there are many other like me out there too. So no, it’s not “as simple as that.”
However, more to the point, within Halo, there are settings that are clearly defined as being “competitive”, while other settings are defined as being “social.” Legendary Slayer does not fit within the competitive settings nearly as much as it does fit within the social ones. Would any professional, “competitive” tournament use Legendary Slayer as their gametype? Most likely not, no, since they’d prefer using something along the lines of Team BRs or Slayer Pro.
For example, by your logic, Action Sack is a competitive playlist since people are playing to win, even though their main concern is to just goof off with funny gametypes. Should tournaments go out and have Team Fiesta be their default gametype, since people play to win?

People play to have fun and fun is subjective. For some people competition is fun, I for one could care less about winning I play to slay, spawn killing guests all day is fun for me. Others find their fun trying to splatter people in a mongoose.

Why must you throw together such flawed arguments? No, no serious competitive gaming league would use Fiesta as a gametype, it’s random and can’t be taken seriously in that sort of environment.
You are playing to win, your CSR should reflect that, not how many people you killed or how high you were on the scoreboard in a Team game. You work as a team, ever read The Fall of Reach? Take these words from Mendez, “Yes, you were first, but your team came in last. Remember this: you don’t win unless your team wins. One person winning at the expense of the group means that you lose.”

Good, then they don’t care about their CSR and won’t mind it being based on your team winning or losing.

I was merely exaggerating your point to show how wrong it is. You say that something is competitive if people play to win. Some people play Fiesta to win, thus you’re saying that it’s competitive. Which is completely silly, right? Yes, you agreed to that, I’m glad that you see my point.
What I was trying to say, which you completely ignored, was that there are settings that are deemed more competitive than others within Halo. No radar (forcing team communication) and precision weapon starts are two main factors in a competitive environment within a Halo game. Since Legendary Slayer does not include either of those, being more of a classic playlist than anything. Thus, within Halo’s standards, Legendary Slayer is not a competitive playlist.
Do you understand now? Yes? Good.
As for the whole Mendez quote and the point that “You are playing to win”, let me repeat myself. Many players, myself included, don’t give a damn about CSR, winning or our position on a scoreboard in a team game. Some people play just to enjoy shooting people and getting shot at. Other people play just to level up and unlock armours and skins. Hell, some players play solely to betray their teammates in the fanciest ways possible. Sure, there are many players who do care about CSR and winning, but you can’t go and generalize the community under one banner. So stop trying to tell us that the one reason anybody plays Halo is solely to win games, since there are so many different people that play for so many different reasons.

I’m sure they don’t and wouldn’t. Besides I’m assuming guests will be allowed in the playlist? If so then it’s not a competitive playlist.
