So like most, I was very excited to start getting back into Halo 4 now that the CSR has been implemented. So last night, myself and a friend started playing again.
My experience was horrible. Mainly due to was seems like a completely random matchmaking system.
I thought each players CSR was suppose help match them against players with similar CSR’s for that playlist?
Playing Team Double or Team Slayer (myself and my friend started at LV1) - we got owned. Badly. Now don’t just write me off at this point. Going back and viewing our match history - every team we played against had levels that were almost 20 abreast of us…
I’m sorry but if a bunch of LV1s are getting thrown into matches were they don’t even come close to the LVs of their competitors: THATS A BROKEN SYSTEM.
I have done nothing but praise 343 and this game, but what they have done here is ruin the game. I’m selling it. Great job 343 - in one fell swoop you ruined my favorite game. What really bothers me beyond all this is, everywhere I read about all this - its just 343 saying how proud of what they did with CSR… Have they even played the game?
I’m not defending the CSR system when I ask this, but what was the current population of TD when you played? The general population in all game types is low and depending on the time of day/night you were playing you may have only been forced to play others of a higher rank because that’s all that was available.

With 4,5 k players that’s only about 460 possible matches. Now add matchmaking with connection/region, True Skill and all that stuff and it becomes harder for the matchmaking system to work 100%.

So the CSR system which was made to prevent boosting already has lag switch boosters…343 I am sorry, but if this isn’t evidence enough that the 1-50 system is just as good if not better this s just ridiculous.

How is the CSR system supposed prevent boosting?
One of the main arguments for NOT implementing a visible 1-50 rank was for these exact problems. Boosting, lag switching etc. are all now desirable to those less scrupulous.
On topic: Matchmaking hasn’t changed. Before CSR you were being matched on TrueSkill and CSR is just a visible TrueSkill. You are still being matched against the same pool of players - you can just see their rank now.
