Csodaszarvas

Csodaszarvas, AKA the big moon of Reach that has the ring system.

We know next to nothing about it other than it is rather large for a moon, has rings, is green and has a atmosphere consisting of thick clouds. Does it have a solid physical surface? What is it’s mass and density? What do the clouds consist of? Were there any UNSC facilities on the moon? What was the moon used for, if anything?

And, barring ‘Rule of Cool’, how does such a large planetary body (it is almost certainly a Mars or Mercury sized object and technically makes it Reach a dual planetary system) not cause extreme geological instability on Reach? Granted this question is largely determinant upon physics and the mass/density of Csodaszarvas, but still, for however cool Bungie thought it may have looked, just /what/ is going on with Csodaszarvas and what was it’s actual purpose other than just window dressing?

Does anyone have any thoughts or theories? Maybe even get that one Waypoint guy that was answering non-critical lore questions back in here?

The description for Reach says that because its such a young planet (1 billion years) it is relatively unstable. You can see mountains on Csodaszarvas during the pre-menu cinematic. Its highly likely it was used for something by the UNSC. Why let any resources or building space go to waste?

By one Waypoint guy do you mean Grim Brother One?
Also we really know nothing of the moon because its a moon even if its the moon of Reach. We know that Reach has two moons so maybe both moons cancel out any side effects?

It doesn’t look like there were any UNSC bases on Csodaszaravas or else we’d have known about them.

Can someone that won’t repeat the information I lay out in my OP or just link to the wiki articles provide any thoughts on this, please?

Also, Reach is geologically stable for it’s young age and size in comparison to Earth.

And by ‘Waypoint Guy’ there was an official Waypoint employee that was going around with a fancy ‘In-Character’ name (something along the lines of ‘Terminal’ or ‘Monitor’ or something) answering non-critical lore question in a large ‘ask me’ thread, not GrimBrotherOne.

we can assume it would be no different from Luna there is no official knowledge other than what you have already stated.

Epsilon Eridani system is a real system with vastly different qualities to are own so you could build a hypothesis from its solar system. but Csodaszarvas clearly smaller if its orbiting reach. as for the atmosphere, im gonna go with carbon atmopher from Exozodiacal dust in the rings due to a lot of asteroids in the system

Wow. I’m hurt.
You realize that there is no other canonical information or I the sage of HW would have provided thee with it.
Reach is also larger than Earth. Irrelevant that it was glassed along with her sister planet Tribute. If there were a UNSC presence on the C planet then it would have been glassed or noted by any of the characters. We see a planet in that system in Stomping on the Heels of a fuss was attacked and ravaged by savage Jiralhanae and Tribute was presumably glassed after a short fight due to the Eridandus fleet being wrecked.
Ah you mean Catalog. He hasn’t been around for a while.
