Crouching

What’s with all the people crouching as soon as you shoot them once or the people that are crouched constantly. Or the one that got me today. I lunged with a sword he crouched and melee and killed me. Props to him for reaction time but damn it gets annoying.

I find myself doing this a lot. Honestly, it’s because I’m trying to slide away. It’s a strategy people use to avoid bullets that sometimes just makes for an easy target. I guess it’s just better to shoot for the center of mass.

Sometimes crouching moves the hitbox just enough that you’ll start missing head shots or because the person crouches sometimes you’ll see that and try to compensate by moving your aimer there’s a chance you’ll overcompensate and move the aimer off of his body even if just for one shot. Seems like it happens more in this game than other Halo’s.

Yeah I know what it does I guess I should have stated what you said seend to happen way more in this game that the others.

It can throw your opponent off a shot in a 1v1 precision battle

Reduced profile, you don’t appear on radar, increased accuracy, causes opponent to re-aim. I’ve noticed it more in this Halo than any previous game but it is super useful!

I don’t understand how the good players can both crouch and aim during intense BR fights. I found myself losing two BR battles in a row against the same player because he was able to crouch (and then stand) and throw me off mid-battle.

The way the controls are setup (for me) the crouch throttle/joystick is the same joystick that I use for aiming, therefore crouching and aiming accurately at the same time is basically impossible. Changing this would require a button remap, which would take MANY MANY games for me to get used to. This makes me sad.

I find that the only people that do this are the people that don’t use Bumper Jumper. Because why not jump instead of crouch?

Exactly how I feel.

Really? When I used Recon I could do that with ease. I just spammed crouch while spamming my trigger and keeping my reticle on the enemies head.

If done right, it completely throws off your attacker. I’ve seen some players get lit up but don’t die because the shots being fired miss.

Bumper Jumper is the best thing ever created. Been using that layout since H2. Since strafing has been reduced significantly after H3, the best way to strafe is Ghandi jump or couch dance.

I once matched up against a guy (happened a few times in the game) where he’d start off with a jump, thruster to the left, immediately crouch and then strafe right. It was oddly effective.

I never did it in any Halo until now. I do it sometimes but I don’t know why. Maybe because strafing isn’t going that well for me in this game.

Omg what you’re all explaining is called Strafe. Look it up.

or get a custom controller lol

It can work well against a pistol user if they’re having issues with the aiming still since it’s so wonky in this game.

It’s people using the elite controller, as they have the extra buttons. And yeah, it’s annoying as hell when someone starts bobbing up and down while you shoot them. I usually punish them for their insolence.

And people who crouch walk around the map… I make sure to send them a few grenades. It’s another annoying tactic that allows them to surprise you, can be tricky to deal with.

There are other games where you need to crouch to land shots over long distance. I don’t see anything wrong with it.

it’s 1v1 situation and you two are exchanging shots, the opponent quickly crouches then stands back up and he gets the reversal kill. Doesn’t happen too often to me because the crouch doesn’t throw me off but every once in a while it gets me
