Crouching to avoid radar is NOT consistent.

I’m sure this is a repost, but I’m too angry to care if it is or not.

For those of us that are keen at crouching to sneak up on people or throwing a Hologram out to trick people into chasing, this game is broken.

What’s the problem you ask?

If you are crouch walking and you have to climb a steep incline for even the slightest amount of time, there is a good chance you will randomly blip on radar.

This means if I’m crouching around top mid on Ragnarok, I could randomly blip.

If I’m climbing the inclines at Big Jerk on Complex while crouching, there’s a good chance I’ll blip.

Don’t believe me? Try it yourself.

Steps:

  • Create a custom game on Complex.
  • Go to the blue spawn side approaching Big Jerk.
  • Attempt to climb the steep inclines leading up to Big Jerk while crouching.
—> Radar will blip even though you are crouching.

It can’t be intended either, because it’s so inconsistent. Even the smallest of pebbles jutting out of the ground will make me blip while crouching.

Ugh… it makes me so angry! How could such a core staple of Halo make it through any sort of QA process without a bug like this being found? -Yoinking!- ridiculous.

I haven’t noticed this. It’s going on the list of things that needed to be fixed in a beta.

Amen.

I heard this before. It’s because you are actually traveling faster than a horizontal crouch walk because you move at the same speed horizontally, but you gain additional speed vertically. So your diagonal speed will exceed your regular crouching speed and thus will also exceed the detection threshold.

A fix to this would be great, though you can solve this by yourself right now by remembering to crouchwalk even slower if you are on a steep hill.

Moving slowly is what avoids motion sensors. It has nothing to do with crouching.

And moving up or down a slope increases your actual speed…
