Something I’d like to see implemented in maps is Crouch Jumping. I don’t see any jumps that require you to crouch to get to, only ones that use clamber. While clamber is cool for people who like it, I think it would be good to have an option for people who don’t want to be stuck in an animation trying to get somewhere. This could be something as simple as stacking some crates next to a jump that’s planned for you to clamber to. I think this would night and day improve map design and flexibility

There were at least 5 to 6 jumps that require crouch jumps from what I saw. You can crouch jump on many of the crates I believe.
Crouch jumping is a viable option. It’s faster than clambering!
I played with auto clamber on the whole time and I know I’ll be turning it off.

Really?? I didn’t see those. I’m glad they added that in. There are just a lot of clamber only jumps, and I saw a lot of missed opportunities for crouch jumping, especially when I go back and watch footage. I will look out for those on the next flight, thank you for telling me

It seems like they have some solid balancing with crouch jumping and clambering. They definitely created shortcuts that require clambering however you are in the open and vulnerable when doing so.

I actually played with it turned off the entire preview and you’d be surprised at the amount of times I caught my teammates clambering while I performed the crouch jump. Only thing that was tricky was remembering to clamber if I missed.
I was able to crouch jump without clambering for the hammer multiple times on ‘Live Fire’

there was a hammer on live fire?

I would like to see these required clambering shortcuts also able to be done with crouch jumping. It rewards skilled players while allowing accessibility to new players, and I think they should be introduced to this core Halo mechanic more often

I disagree. I think certain shortcuts should have risk involved while other locations that have crouch jump for QoL. It creates balance on the battlefield for risky combat entrees.

Well there is an inherent risk involved with trying to crouch jump to places, because the timing is precise and you could mess up the maneuver. If you make it, you still might get killed, cause these jumps are out in the open. It just spices things up a bit and gives players more options. It also encourages higher skill

Many jumps that require clamber require skill too. Especially the one from the bottom of the tower on Live Fire. Both can require a certain level of skill while balancing on risk. They don’t have to be exclusive.

I see your point there, they’re not exclusively low skill jumps, but now why make them exclusive to only clamber if there’s plenty of risk involving crouch jumping too?

Because specific jumps require different heights to keep the quality of the map design. I think any maneuver to take some short of shortcut should have risk however crouch jumping has lower risk inherently due to the time required for the movement. Clamber has an animation which makes it longer.

I getchu, I just think that benefit is modified by the higher skill it takes to crouch jump, so not so many people are gonna do it as to negate the risk-reward aspect of the jumps they’ve designed. Plenty of people will still clamber. Now as to the concern about different heights, objects can be placed with the exact height necessary to make a crouch jump out of a clamber jump, without changing the design of these jumps. Just a few stacked crates here and there, would do wonders

Believe me being a mainly Halo 2 player in terms of pure addiction I love crouch jumping especially with all of the glitches you could do with crouching (Super Jumps).
Example for Live Fire:
It’s at the 2:25 mark.

I think this would night and day improve map design and flexibility</a>

Clamber has an animation which makes it longer.

Plenty of people will still clamber. Now as to the concern about different heights, objects can be placed with the exact height necessary to make a crouch jump out of a clamber jump, without changing the design of these jumps. Just a few stacked crates here and there, would do wonders

Afaik this is the only skill jump on Live Fire and the fact that there is only one is pretty disappointing. I think map design should offer more than just 3 lanes with no alternative routes. Recharge and Bazaar are more interesting but on those maps too skill jumps seem scarce. I hope 343 will give us more ledges and crates to use for alternative routes/rewarding jumps…

What about movable crates?? You could make your own jumps mid-game…

Only skill jump? They have one crouch jump I believe to get to middle from the buff side of Live Fire and another to get to BR/ Commando on the opposite side The map is a simplistic design so of course there won’t be that many. The other maps have a lot more skill jumps than you realize. Bazaar and Recharge I know for a fact have more than 4 on each map. I feel like you don’t know that and that’s why you feel this way.
