Halo 4 with the crouch now on the B button and strictly toggle it would be easier if there were some way to know when you where crouching (other than slow movment and height), it would be especially when holding still or in air(e.g. crouch jumping).
Idea:
Rather than some icon on the hud, your default way you hold your gun would change(perhaps to a more stealthy looking weapon hold). This would probubly make crouching feel a lot more realistic and practical.
Its simple but I don’t think i’ve seen this implemented in a game other than some hud icon.

Your right, after the VIP Beta they said that the buttons were very customizable, and that there will pretty much be a button layout for every player.

They are. He’s kinda just making this up. The Default controls have crouch on B, but they also said you could pretty much customize it however you want. There was nothing that ever said it was only Toggle Crouch, though.
There will probably be an option where you can choose toggle or press-n-hold. Like all Halo games. If it is strictly toggle (Highly, highly unlikely) then meh, ok. Whatever. I just run around and gun baddies down.

Because the default is now B, it wouldn’t be practical to use press-n-hold. But since it can be changed; I suppose its possible that the option to switch back to press-n-hold will be available.

I kinda hope they put in a number of little HUD things, just to help the player out. a crouch/stand indicator would be good, along with a hit marker system and some kind of subtle way of telling the player that he’s in melee range; like a thin outline of the reticle or something

I like the melee range idea, hitmarkers should not be implemented in halo though.

That’s what I like to hear. I hate getting mixed up after jumping from one game to another.

Because not only is sprint more important then crouch, crouch is more important then switching grenades. Considering that switching grenades with probably be D-Pad, I find it an excellent idea.

The the D-Pad shouldn’t be the gernade switch, or used for common gameplay mechanics in my opinion, its ok for things kinda outside of gameplay like killstreaks for COD.

In Halo, we have shields.
And when those shields take damage, they flash.
That’s a good enough “hit marker”.
No point in adding a reticule hit marker.
Especially since the Halo-Huggin-Cod-Haters would freak out over such a tiny thing.
