Crouch after melee?

The weirdest thing has been happening in matchmaking…I’d usually be running around, sprinting to be accurate, and as soon as I’d see someone I’d get up close, shoot them and follow up with a melee. Now, a few times after I melee’d the other individual, I was crouched and that can really mess you up if you don’t kill the other person or if there are more players around you. I didn’t press down on RS so why is this happening? Is there some sort of move that I don’t know of, is it a glitch or am I losing my mind? I’ve noticed this with several other people but I haven’t seen any posts about this on the forums. I am 100% sure that I’m not pressing down on RS. Hope I get some feedback and I hope this is the correct place to post this.

Ditto.

It seems to happen randomly after any melee for me, not just when sprinting, though I think it’s more common with sprint.

My friend says the same thing happens to him. We’ve also played custom games together and have it happen there.

I’ve also seen many opponents online suffer from this.

I’ve noticed it more with sprinting but I guess it doesn’t really matter that much. It’s extremely annoying and staying alive after doing that is very difficult. Really hope that 343 is aware of the problem and that it gets fixed.

It happens to me too. I have seen people using it as an advantage though. Crouch seems to be a big asset in SWAT playlists

Weird

That was happening to me a lot last night but I figured it was my own fault pressing the RS down, even if I didn’t feel it happen. Really weird.

Could be useful in certain situations, but I think that mostly it’s just an inconvenience.

Well, apparently it’s very common.

Honestly I just assumed I accidentally clenched and press down RS even though I could swear I didn’t. It’s happened to me multiple times but I can never pin down if it’s random or if a certain action causes it.

Happened to me a few times. It’s probably just a bug that’ll get patched soon.

Yay I’m not the only one

Yeah, but I just wanted to make sure that they get informed on the problem and that I’m not the only one seeing this (might have been a user error if it was just me).

This might be a controller problem. Go to your controller setup and scroll down to Crouch behavior. It should be set to hold. If you set it to Toggle it will stay crouched until you press it again. When set to Hold you only stay crouched as long as you hold down the stick.

The thing is, we don’t crouch, it happens after you melee someone even if you’re not holding RS. Maybe there’s a control scheme where RB is crouch and there’s a bug in the programming that at times jumps from one scheme to the other- what is melee on one scheme is crouch on the other and the bug makes it switch at random times.

I didn’t think you were crouching on purpose, I thought that in the heat of things you might accidentally push down on RS once in a while but that’s probably stupid. Anyway, the setting is actually called Toggle Crouch and it’s set to On by Default. I set mine to Off. That way if you wind up in a crouch at least you won’t stay that way until you push down on RS again.

I haven’t seen it but that definitely sound weird.

I glad others also experienced the crouch after melee, it happened to me a lot last night during play. I originally though the culprit was my sausage fingers.

Still wondering if they actually know of the existence of this problem.

Ok I was just in a FFA match and it happened. 7 times…I. Died. Every. Time. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience anymore, this is becoming a big problem.

It doesn’t even seem to happen all the time. If I get it, it happens throughout the match. Other times, there’s no issue. I thought it was resolved for me because it hadn’t happened in a while and then suddenly in one game it happened every time.
