With the announcement of separate input “hoppers” does this mean that there will be no way to turn crossplay off?
Because to me cheating is a greater concern than whether or not I get my butt kicked by a KB&M or controller player. Lol
Can anyone shed any light on whether or not turning crossplay off will be available?

Don’t believe 343 has said anything official about being able to toggle crossplay off, and those hoppers are only for ranked.
They have continually reiterated their commitment to cracking down on cheaters however.

And not to be that guy, but every single game creator continually reiterates their commitment to cracking down on cheaters and look at the state of COD warzone. Even their brand new anticheat system that won’t release until Vanguard has been broken due to its code being leaked.
But here’s hoping Halo is different!

This means nothing to me, assuming they aren’t implementing a kernel level anti-cheat (and even then it’s not unbreakable) then it’ll forever be an uphill battle against cheaters and to drag console players through this for the sake of keeping the cross-population high is damaging at best.
I don’t intend to come off as mean-spirited but it’s unfortunate that quite a few questions regarding the game have yet to be answered this close to launch, they had the chance to confirm/deny the existence of a toggle in today’s vidoc and it’s unsettling to know that once again this information is speculative.

You won’t need to turn anything off if you’re playing solo. If you play on console you’re going to only play ranked against console. If you play PC you’re only going to play against players on PC. From my understanding the only time you would play crossplay is if you have a party of mixed inputs, I’m not sure you can solo queue for it. Which is bad news for people like me that play with friends on both PC and Xbox. Crossplay playlist will most likely be super sweaty and nothing but sweaty team queues. I’m pretty sure these options are strictly for Ranked games. I would assume social games are inherently crossplay but you will most likely be able to toggle input based matchmaking to your likeness the way you can in MCC.
I wonder if there will be separate input ranks. I’m doubtful. That will mean I will need another account to play the opposite input on, which is a shame as I’d like to gain progress on my main account but practice with both input methods.

Not quite true.
Ranked play is input based not platform based. Cross play will be enabled for ranked.
If you’re playing on controller you’ll be playing against other controller players, regardless of PC or Console.
If you’re playing on Mouse & Keyboard you’ll be playing against other Mouse & Keyboard players, regardless if they’re on PC or Console.
The ranked “mixed input” playlist will be matching you with anybody regardless of platform or input device.
Regardless of what 343i claims about cheaters I would rather at the least have the option to toggle cross-play on/off.

I agree with you completely.
Also I would almost guarantee they won’t be doing a kernal level anti-cheat. I only say that because they made it a point to emphasize “players privacy”. Which to me basically means no kernal-level.
And considering the backlash valorant (I think that’s the game) got for doing it, and then Vanguard supposedly has it but only when the game is running (and cheat makers claim to have already busted CoDs) I don’t quite see them risking all the hassle.
This was my only real concern about PvP going F2P. Unless they plan on doing hardware bans(which are still can be beaten) it’ll be all of five minutes before a cheater makes a new account and is back to player.

well if we see mcc every playlist has its own rank so this should have too otherwise its gonna be a huge problem
