Crosshair location is back in middle. Why?

So I noticed that in Halo 5 mp beta gameplay crosshair is placed in middle of screen.
I personaly like how it was untill now. Not counting Halo ce because it had in middle too.
I can’t explain it why. I like how it plays when it’s placed little below middle of the screen (I think it is in golden ration, but not sure).

So you think if we make much noise they will put it back how it was?
What do you think about this?

Why the hell should it be 2/3rd’s the way down? Its just a little trick of Bungie’s to increase the view of the skybox at the expense of your immediate surroundings. IMO shooters tend to be more playable when they put their crosshair in the most intuitive space possible (ie. at the center, which gives you a full field of view according to normal human experience). Its not a big deal either way, but the only justification for lowering the reticle seems to be the devs showing off which I don’t think we should be encouraged.

Halo is a pretty vertical game. Its not about showing off, its about you seeing what is important. Ie, jumping spartans.

Think about that. Its a vertical game. So, while one player is shooting up another is shooting DOWN. For every opportunity where you could justify having more space at the top you can just as well argue for more space at the bottom from the perspective of the other player. BECAUSE Halo plays at all with the vertical the optimum solution is a balanced crosshair location (as otherwise you’re biasing perspectives [if ever so slightly] in favor of only one group of players), never mind that being the most sensible/intuitive location in any case.

What Duncan said, and the position of the crosshair can’t change how much vertical space the FoV has.

It makes sanse what you said. But When I come back to Halo ce from let’s say Halo 4 I’m noticing that crosshair is in different position.
When I’m playing let’s say Halo 2 after Halo ce I don’t even notice that crosshair is in different position.
And why did they now decided to put it in middle? Why did Halo 4 stayed unchanged?

Its in the middle because 343 doesnt know anything about Halo

Second saddest complaint ever…of all time. Trust me, you don’t even want to know the first.

Does it matter where the reticule in as long as it’s near the center of the screen? You can aim just as well, and it’s not like it affects your field of view or anything.

Why did Halo Reach abandon dual wielding while Halo 3 kept on with it? Because developers can change their minds.

Taking another look at the halo 5 footage, I think they moved the reticule to the middle because the top part of the HUD is not as intrusive as it is in other Halo games.

Nah it seems fine the way it is.

It had always been lower on the screen because the camera was placed inside the helmet model from Halo 2 onward. This also is why you got to see your legs whenever you looked down. The guns would look really weird to other players if the crosshair was higher since the model itself would be pointing upward more. The alternative is to have the players constantly looking like they’re aiming down the sights, but that’d make the weapon model in first person be far too intrusive.

It took me forever to understand this. I was really turned off by Halo 2 until I finally realized it. Since then, I’ve always seen it as a really strange but endearing design choice.

CE had it in the middle.

All I know is that it’ll make using the Blind Skull a lot easier.

You forgot to add “who doesn’t know anything about Halo now, huh? HUH!”

EDIT: THIS IS A NECROPOST!!! I got tricked again!!! I say lock it down.

I never liked that change so I’m glad it’s back in the middle.

Oh god I didn’t realize it either!
