I’m curious about one thing, can people playing Reach in Xbox One play with/against people on 360?
It would be nice if this game got a small population boost to go back to.

yes. it supports system link and online parties between the two consoles.
Playing Reach on the X1 is exactly like playing it on the 360. You connect to the same servers, so you can play cross platform

Have you actually done a system link with a 360 and a One?
It is only using the 360 servers.
There is no separate server to run any BC games.
The population count as a whole would include both systems in the numbers.
Technically it’s not crossplay
