I couldn’t find an existing thread although I’m sure one is out there. I know 343 says that cheaters should be expected but they’re growing prevalent. I’d be happy to wait longer for matches if there was no PC players.
Trust me…you’re not the only one! Crossplay is great in theory, but in reality it’s a steaming pile of turd.
Trust me, there’s cheaters on Xbox too. Even on MCC you’ll find them. Rather than removing crossplay, how about we just get better anti-cheat software?
Best situation would be to somehow combat the cheaters.
Failing that, enable a crossplay toggle.
I didn’t buy a series X to play with pc cheaters. I want a fair fight.
AND the option to turn off crossplay while we’re at it
An option is fine, but I have no clue why people dislike it so much.
because of the very obvious advantage one platform has over the other.
Doesn’t help that this game has no anti-cheat on pc.
I understand people are upset by cheaters, but I’ve seen cheaters in every iteration of Halo in one form or another ever since it went to Xbox LIVE in Halo 2.
As a PC player who doesn’t use cheats (check my stats, I suck these days) and runs with a controller (old habits die hard, I’m too used to Halo from my console days) I’m having a blast being able to play through crossplay. For example, I can got to my mate’s house, load up my profile on his Xbox while he uses his PC, and we can do some matchmaking together. I can then carry on on my own PC when I’m at home.
Now sure, most games at least allow an option to disable it, and I can support the call for that, but I’d hate to see it removed completely.
This is the standard response, but its flawed. There ARE cheaters on console, but its not as prevalent or drastic. Because of the extra steps/risks involved in getting the cheats onto a console, many would-be cheaters wont do it. Getting cheats on a PC is WAYYY easier, therefor more widespread. PC is a one-stop shop for cheaters.
Give me the option to disable crossplay & input 100% in ranked lobbies.
Social playlists are where it belongs.
Oh there’s plenty
I can’t recall them saying it, but this should be a given across all titles and platforms in 2021.
How prevalent exactly? That’s really up for debate.
So is the issue with PC players or cheaters?
Yep the same old chestnut default response…there are cheats on both PC and console so both platforms are as bad as each other…NO!!! No it’s not…and it’s blatantly not the case!
It would be great if there would ever be a solid anti cheat but there won’t, so protect the majority of the player base (console) from the majority of cheats using hacks (which just so happen to be on PC). I’ve never NEVER come across a wall hacker or aim bot until I played COD Warzone with forced crossplay…and guess what, we now have them on Halo Infinite with forced crossplay. Is that any kind of coincidence?!
Yep, we see how well that worked for Caldera
Also, wallhacks are pretty hard to call out in Halo because of good game sense and lack of kill-cams (probably a good thing since most people would be calling hacks). I’ve come up against a couple, but didn’t want to bother looking through theater just to confirm. It’s just so hard to tell once you’re in Onyx lobbies.
Give us a toggle. Don’t just turn it off. I play cross plat with my friends and getting rid of crossplay would suck poo.
Absolutely. The players need a CHOICE to opt in/out of crossplay not be FORCED in to it. Also this option should be across ALL playlists…not just limited player ranked, not just ranked…it NEEDS to be ALL PLAYLISTS INCLUDING SOCIAL.
In that case XOne, XSX and XSS should all be seperate too since they’re different.
I agree but there’s no way they are going to filter done console players like that. They should have made the game for XSX and XSS only anyway, but obviously included XONe because of the supply issues of next gen consoles…saying that if BF2042 can do it then no reason why Microsoft’s flagship title shouldn’t be able to do so too.
there are now a lot of threads that wane see the same thing happing more in general point that crossplay needs to go.
and there are also some old threads that have told in the develop from halo infinite what will happing and how really wrong there idea was with crossplay and it has all coming out sadly the warning sign’s that have been told back then.
so the question is will there make crossplay a option to turn on/off or not.
If you think consoles don’t have cheaters, you’re fooling yourself. The problem isn’t crossplay. Crossplay just gives us the option to play with our friends on other platforms. It should have a toggle available, yes, but otherwise it’s a feature with pretty much only upside.
Anti-Cheat is a different problem entirely. I don’t really see the apparently rampant cheating that everyone else seems to see, but I agree that it’s always going to be a problem in online multiplayer games and 343 needs to address it.
Agreed. I could care less about “cheaters” I know you can encounter them anywhere but man at a minimum we need input based matchmaking. I would prefer to not play with any PC players either TBH.
