Cross-Core? How about Cross-Coatings like Destiny has?

A Season 2 announcement mentioned a possible Cross-Core system in the works, including helmets and coatings being the main focus. Maybe, MAYBE, by some miracle, or enough rioting, 343 will just do a full Destiny, and allow Cross-Coatings, so like Destiny, your Coatings would work across ALL VEHICLES, ALL WEAPONS, AND ALL ARMOR CORES, instead of buying the same color 50 times just to have an almost matching set, since 343 just REFUSES to release a full set of Coatings for all Weapons and all Vehicles

Idk, maybe I’m just insane for wanting Bleached Bone on Mark V so I can have a White Armor Noble 6 like I did in Reach, or maybe I want my Hydra TO FINALLY HAVE SOME COATINGS TO CHOOSE FROM.

Maybe I’m just being ungrateful about WARTHOG AND AR GETTING 99% OF THE COSMETICS.

Come on 343. Cross-Coatings. It’s literally a PNG texture preset. Drag and drop. Copy and paste. You don’t need to hire 200 more employees and make a roadmap plan for it for season 8. Drag and drop. Copy and paste.

Also Cross-Visors. It’s a PNG TEXTURE. Drag and drop. Copy and paste. Drag and drop. Copy and paste. If it works on all helmets in one core, it should fit all helmets in any core.

  • Yes (This should already exist due to lack of color options)
  • No (I want to buy the same color 50 times)

Also cross core visors.

True. I forgot about visors. That’s also just a png texture. 343 should also be able to do that easily and immediately if they wanted to

It is absolutely ridiculous that visors are not cross-core. They’re VISORS. If they can make them fit every helmet shape on the same armor core, they can do the same across different cores.

343 actually just acknowledged the whole “cross-core” in their most recent report. They basically said they were gonna try to do it for as many pieces as possible (focusing on the important pieces, like helmets), but it just simply wasn’t possible for every single piece. Makes sense, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the samurai armor pieces didn’t fit on other cores. They technically didn’t mention anything about universal coatings, but I feel like it’s a step in the right direction.

There’s been a lot of complaining recently about 343’s lack of transparency and listening to the fan base, but as far big game companies go, I’m pretty impressed so far. Imagine of EA was in charge of the game.

I think most of the samurai stuff won’t fit on other cores, but stuff from other cores should be able to fit on the samurai, so at least the Yorai will have SOME sort of customization.
As of right now, even if you pay, you get barely any customization for the Yorai.

I hope that they add cross shoulders also. I don’t see why they would keep those tied to the core and don’t say clipping because some armor already clips with the core it’s on.

Yes. That is what I was referring to in my first sentence.
As for them “not being able to” do all pieces, it’s a lie. Modders can cross-core anything with a flick of a switch in debug tools, like Bots could do in the beta, with barely any clipping if any. They just don’t want to allow Fracture to cross with Canon cores. We already have multiple customization options that clip one way or another.

Cross colors, helmets, and visor colors are coming across the board.

Everything else won’t be fully cross core, because of compatibility issues between the shapes of cannon armors vs yoroi and other future armors, but it will be added when and where it makes sense. So most MVII and Mv[b] pieces will be compatible with each other, but the same may not be said for all Yoroi pieces or pieces from future armor sets. Yoroi and cannon armor utilities for example will be completely incompatible, but something like the ODST chest may still be available on Yoroi.

I refuse to believe that Yoroi helmets and chest attachments would not fit. The new Lone Wolves core has the exact same 3 kunai knives on the Yoroi chest on the leg of the Lone Wolves concept art. I 100% believe the Yokai helmet would fit unclipped on every possible core

Some stuff won’t work, like Jorge’s chest piece.

I personally think they should just let everything be crosscore as long as it doesn’t clip.
If it does, don’t allow it on that core, but if it works for other cores, than allow it.

My Yoroi katana clips my entire left arm when I stand and run. The GUNGNIR helmet clips helmet effects. The cat ears clip helmets, instead of being a specific height on the helmet, they’re either too high or halfway inside the helmet. Those are just off the top of my head.

I play Destiny, and our armors and capes constantly clip stuff, clip our legs, helmets, even our vehicles the cape clips like crazy and goes wild, and looks hilarious. I’ve played so many games in my life where clothes clip when sitting.

I have no expectations of 343 to give clothes collision physics. Idc if stuff clips. Here’s a whacky idea, but maybe we should expect a multi-billion dollar company to be able to reposition cosmetics based on the armor it’s on.

I don’t care either, MCC has a lot of stuff that clips too, I’m just saying that because I know a lot of people do worry about it clipping (even though we already have a ton of stuff in the game that clips already, like you said)

In this case, we already have people that don’t want Cross-core due to “ugly” like MCC, which 343 added a disable feature to. If I play VRchat, they let us select a backup model if our primary one is disabled by someone. I believe we should be able to go crazy on the Cross-core core, but if people wanted to disable seeing it, we can select one of our other cores as a backup core, like Mark VII for example would be my choice backup core, if someone didn’t want to see my Yoroi Mark V Mark VII combo for whatever reason
