Thing is there are going to be more cores.
We can guestimate 2 cores being added every season, one core for the featured seasonal Battle pass, and one for that season’s Fracture. Every season’s Fracture has already been confirmed as having its own core, season Battle Passes haven’t, but it’s a solid guess that they will, and we can expect to see stuff like Mark VI, ODST, GEN2, and possibly even Elites return that way.
Don’t really care all that much about cross-core armor and accessories. Introducing it would defeat the whole core focused design anyway. Now visors and coatings being universal to each core? Now you’ve got something worth pushing for. Coatings should unlock by type, armor/weapons/vehicles, not by individual core/weapon/vehicle, and visor colors just need to be universal. A much easier fix, added value to purchases of these items, and still allows for them to habe some core specific design cues.
I thought the point of the core system was that certain pieces of equipment would be designed specifically for certain cores, but other equipment would be more universal and work on all. That’s the impression I got before I game came out, and I was cool with it. Different versions of Mjolnir may have some specific pieces, but even in the last we’ve seen others which work crosscore, helmets in particular.
Well if we’re being honest the likely point of the core system is to drive mtx and pass sales by introducing a distinct and limited aesthetic based around each core. From a technical standpoint there’d be 0 issue with cross-core, bots currently do it frequently. The split is likely a 90/10 split between mtx incentives and design considerations.
Cross core is such a bad idea. Yall want more coloring options im all for it. Yall wanna have a clown core to look stupid? Go right ahead. But you want to copy and paste different aesthetics just because you dont have enough options on day 1? Lol event cores and the regular ones look so insanely different that merging the two would just be an abomination. And hey I mean If we’re just making demands willy nilly i demand yall to stop with this stupid cross core nonsense.
No they dont lol theyre completely different ploygons
I havent seen a single ai with crosscore and i play offline custom matches to constantly edit my gamemodes
This. The cores are fine as is. They could potentially use a few attachments or pieces being crosscore but an overhaul of the entire system is absurd logistically and cosmetically.
Look up youtube videos, “bots” crosscore.
It is real.
So in other words, your only argument against it is," I dont want to see X in my game because it will look stupid."
Using your logic, I could lead a crusade againsy the MK.V core, because I think it looks stupid, and, according to you, that is totally fine.
Fine logic you havr there!
It wouldn’t bother me quite so much if it weren’t for the fact that it is a completely deliberate choice, to try and get more money out of people for less work. The bots have been seen wearing cross-core armor pieces; very little if any of the gear would need to be modified to fit on any core. They just don’t want to do it for players because @343 cares more about making money from preteens than making a good, lasting game.
See I’d agree with that except we’ve already seen the bots wearing cross-core armor pieces; the restriction is not a technical one that they need to design ways around. It is an arbitrary restriction placed deliberately to restrict players’ customization abilities unless they do more and pay more.
It’s a way to make the store seem more fair by charging $5 for “9 items” when it’s actually $5 for 3 items, on each of three cores. Nothing more.
I would not mind cross core. I would use Mark 7 with Firefall Helmet, Cat Ears, Zvezda Shoulders, ODST chest plate, TACPAD, M45 Hardcase.
No the bad/terrible idea was having the core and coatings system in the first place and forcing players to have less options not more. It’s done solely to make them more money and limit your customization. Just because someone thinks that one set of armor looks good doesn’t mean that someone else is going to think it looks good.
Style is subjective and in the other games you could mix and match to your hearts content to make any type of Spartan/Elite you wanted. They boasted this game having the most customization but no Halo has had less customization ever.
Cores need to be presets not locked style choices. I wouldn’t care about this nearly as much if you could earn armor through in game actions and it wasn’t a blatant lie from 343, that most of the stuff you unlock is in the game through playing the game not spending money.
Maybe the best way to implement cross core is to have certain items be crosscore. Firefall is compatible with the lone wolves core, but not Mark V [B]. ODST helmet is compatible with Mark VII but not lone wolves
Or just have everything go on whatever core it fits.
If it fits on every core except Yorai, let it go on every core except the Yorai.
Simple as that.
If people are worried about “mushed spartans” then have a core filter where you only see armor that goes with that core. If something on that spartan is from another core, that area is reset to the default customization.
But not being able to see certain armor kinda defeats the purpose of having crosscore, doesn’t it? It just defeats the purpose, if no one but me can see my armor, why wear it?
I don’t wear armor for you, I wear it for me and my friends.
Which is other people. You are still flaunting your armor, even if you just think it looks cool. I wear the ODST helmet. Why? Because I think it looks cool, and want to show it off. If someone can just “turn it off”, I might as well just take a picture then have my spartan look however
I’m curious as to how much of the armor can actually be used on multiple cores without it looking hideous with clipping and what not. Most of the Samurai Core’s armor I don’t feel would look even remotely good on the other two cores for instance.
Coatings, Visors, Wrist Accessories, leg accessories helmet attachments and what not could probably all work though. Some might need minor tweaks I guess.
- Armor Coatings
- Helmets
- Helmet Attachments
- Visor Colors
- Shoulders
- Gloves
- Knee Guards
That’s it. Everything else has clipping geometry and a clashing art style difference that is too dynamic.
