first off id like to note that there is no mention of anyone addressing the “loading latest matchmaking data” bug. this is a problem I’ve dealt with some, but mostly i am speaking out of the the MANY people i have read/seen having this problem for months now. If 343 doesn’t address the core issues making this game unplayable STILL then we are in for a disappointing CU.
So they are adjusting team doubles. they know that their voting system is flawed, especially with the way they break a tie. They claim people think there is only H2C and H2A in team doubles because it is to the far left. I’ve never heard this complaint personally, but I don’t work there so i must be missing something. to fix this they will make the first slot SLayer, the second slot Objective, and the last one Slayer also. Each slot will be a random halo, not a determined one (so halo 2 could be in the middle or on the right, or still on the left) This seems like a silly fix to me. This just means that if someone wants to play objective that they will never get it, and instead of H2a/c being prevalent now team slayer will be dominate and team objective will now have the disadvantage. Doesn’t sound like a fix for me, sounds like the playlist will have the same problem.
And team doubles is not the only playlist with voting problems. 343 would obviously rather take away voting (as they will do in halo 5, or so they say) than fix this. People like to be able to choose what they play, and i fear that if there is no voting there will be no way to affect variety. games that i have played with no voting often suffer from having the same maps over and over again.
So then they say they will be adding some game types to action sack. i love action sack and have made posts asking for problems to be solved, and none of them are addressed. instead they are (mostly) just adding more garbage to the mix. I don’t ever remember asking for MORE SPLASERS!??? who likes this game type? They did hear me out that Team Duals and other more "standard’ game types shouldn’t be favored over Husky raid or other GREAT game types that people EXPECT from action sack. Sounds like they won’t really be addressing the problem, just adding more splasers which i already avoid. At least red glare is fun. Played splasers with some friends yesterday, they all hated it.
Adding ricochet to halo 4 is awesome, i love ricochet but i don’t love halo 4. . although i think other things should be addressed first, i love ricochet. would love to see it more in action sack. instead they are adding more splasers (which is already a game type, and often not chosen). This makes no sense to me, i haven’t met many people who don’t like richocet. and people like me love it. add more quickochet to action sack!! and more husky raid availability. shotty snipers also belongs in team snipers in my opinion.
They are adding some good maps to team snipers, that will be nice. But i can’t feel like when i read this update about the CU that they are not really doing much. Adding game types, reducing others, and making people have more a penalty for quitting. Im guessing this penalty will do nothing, just like the last one did nothing to curb quitting. Ultimately it is the broken state of the game that often causes people to either quit or be booted ( my friends and i get booted CONSISTENTLY to this day, ). I hope those quitting because they don’t like a game type or because they are loosing will learn their lesson, but its a shame for anyone else who quits because of lag or because of other problems out of their control.
I expect penalties like this might cause more people to stop playing the MCC. I hate quitters, every game i play is full of them. But if they would hear peoples feedback correctly they would know that much of the quitting is due to the prevalence of cross-halo playlists. whoever is playing has a favorite halo, and they want to play it.Halo 3 fans and Halo 4 fans are more than happy, but it is made nearly impossible to play certain things like BTB on CE for instance. people have been asking for separate BTB games from halo 3 and halo 4 since its release for instance. Halo 3 and halo 4 were available on XBL, with BTB, VERY RECENTLY. Halo 1 has never been offered on XBL before this game and it is nearly impossible to access and play on MCC. Seems silly to just neglect the game that made all the rest famous, the one that started it all.
Overall I’m disappointed with the “details” of this update, and i don’t think it will do much to fix the underlying problems that the MCC still has. There are almost countless problems, as this forum can support. Is team doubles voting really more important than dealing with bugs that keep people from playing entirely? BTB is one of the most played playlists and always has been in all halos that offer it. There is no adjustment to the prevalence of Remnant over Bloodline for h2a BTB. There is no removal of Gungoose CTF now that Team action sack has it. There is no addressing the fans request to have Halo CE 4v4. I hope the CUs keep coming, but it looks like the game will be dead before they ever fully fix it if they keep going at this rate. Just my opinion.
