Critics vs Ultimate Fan Needs for Halo on X1

So, I’ve gone through threads and threads of opinions, polls, and wish-lists over the next Halo on Xbox One. And don’t get me wrong, I too would prefer a game that built itself over the foundations of Halo 2/3 without the ordinance drops, armor abilities, and all of the new unwanted mechanics and additions that have been introduced to the Halo franchise over the past few years.

Now, a ton of people want all of that stripped away to go back to an mp experience that more resembles Halo 2/3. (Please don’t hate on me as this is what I prefer as well). If 343i actually did do that and basically delivered a Halo 5: Ultimate Fan Game or Halo 3.5 or whatever, how do you think that would settle with the critics? Would they shower praise upon the game for going back to its glory roots (I definitely would)? Or would they bash it for stripping the game of Halo Reach’s/Halo 4’s newer mechanics and additions and marking off points because 343i isn’t ambitious enough to elevate the franchise’s mp to new heights with newer, more modern additions?

It would be simpler to have the next release build on Halo 4, provide playlists that don’t have the new features, and give players the opportunity to create custom games that have only the features they desire.

I really don’t care about the critics. I’m my own critic and I play games based on how I enjoy them. I don’t care if every magazine scored it the lowest score possible. It would be my favorite if it was a Halo 3.5

I agree with this, unfortunately.

I think 343i should honestly play it safe with the next iteration of Halo. I don’t understand though why a Halo game with a more classical approach would receive a low score from critics when every iteration of Call of Duty is practically the exact same game, yet it receives 8-10/10s from sources like IGN.

All I want is 343i to give up on the foundation centered around “adapting” to the generic shooter. Halo is not generic, and used to be the high king of console shooters. The only thing “innovation” has gotten this franchise is a lower place on the food chain.

The critics says whatever Microsoft tells them to, because Microsoft has cash. Be your own criticizer.

Fans know what they want but don’t know what the games needs.

343 didn’t know what the fans wanted, but they knew what the game needed.

They gave a reason why there was red vs blue Spartans fighting each other, a much more in-depth about chief’s struggles, gave the game’s art style more brighter and better in my opinion rather than the gloom and doom look.

They took halo in a different direction that the fans didn’t want but they will probably fix that.

343 have spent a long time on this halo and know what to do with the game now, if fans would have their way it would be the exact same with better graphics.

Edit:

Also It’s nice to have an outside opinion of the game because they are not biased towards the franchise and could suggest improvements themselves

Unlike fans, critics rate games based on their merit in comparison to all other games, not just other games in the series. It doesn’t matter what a game does as long as it is fun, immersive, pretty, and has a good story.

Well I personally think that Halo ‘5’ needs to change and innovate from ANY of the games including Halo 3. Why would we want hitscan weapons…why would we want the OP Needler… While it is true that Halo 4 has had more problems than Halo 3, it doesn’t mean that they should COMPLETELY remove it, but find what works, what doesn’t, and what it can improve on. We can’t just reship Halo 3 with better graphics for the fanbase, why wouldn’t they all just play the game itself?
What I could stay?
Loadout Options for Weapon, AA, and Grenades
Initial Ordnance
Sprint
Death Cams
Hit Markers
AAs

All of these just need tweaking and they won’t destroy the game at all!

What I would say should leave:
Random Ordnance
Personal Ordnance
Grenade Markers(personal preference for myself)
Perks
The Secondary Perks
Half of the armoury sets…

Sprint in NO WAY takes away the aspect of arena or fair gameplay, it even gives players the ability to make tactical retreats(yeah I don’t like it either)

AAs need to be majorly adjusted

Weapon choices and damage tables should be adjusted.

Reach Forge+ Halo 4 Forge together

Infection Skins…

Some of the old gametypes should come back…

Campaign Theater should be there!

If anything, we needed to have fixed Reach’s problems first before Halo 4’s…

Does it matter what critics really think? It’s a AAA series, they’ll get payed off to give it good reviews anyway.
