Let me preface this with my service record… It’s bad, and you don’t need to tell me about it. I don’t care about losing, but getting crushed repetitively is depressing.
If 343i does not address full teams facing pugs, it will result in a large exodus of casuals from online play. People can and will argue against this, but if you don’t see this as a problem, you are the problem.
Warzone, i.e the “social” mode for Halo has become competitive. I have been reading posts for a few weeks about Achilles causing spawn camping, etc., but in the last few days Warzone is no longer fun being solo. Getting completely nuked by another team is okay once, but three times in a row sucks…
Folks will respond “Get in a group yourself”. I could, if I didn’t have a wife, two kids, two dogs, a cat, a home, etc. I play this game a lot, but I cannot block off time. I can only allocate about 20 minutes top at a time. Life happens.
I can already feel the negative feedback on this post. 343i will probably do nothing, and there will be those that leave because of it. I probably won’t be one of those, but at least I can say “I told you so” a year or two from now.
I do love you all, even the haters. Some of the funniest moments I have encountered were in Halo.
I feel your pain. Family here as well…wife, two kids, and pets. I end up sacrificing sleep most of the time and quite a bit here lately to play 2-3 hours at night.
I can see your point. Just keep rolling with the punches, riding the waves whatever you want to call it

Thank you.
I played the hell out of Halo 1 and 2 when in college (on network), and then played a bit of 3 and 4. 5 really got me good. It is so freaking good. The game
play is great. Even if nothing changes I will still be here.
While I have had the luxury of being able to pour hours a day into gaming, I can say from a hardcore gamer’s standpoint who does have a bunch of time, the OP is correct.
I’m not going to go into detail about how he is correct, but simply offer possible solutions for 343 to implement, and we as a community to implement.
For 343, cut back on skill matchmaking. Instead of making sure everyone in the match has the same CSR, just make sure each team has the same average CSR, so skilled players can have fun wiping the floor with “scrubs” and the casual players don’t end up losing all the time. It worked fine for every other Halo.
For the community, stop obsessing with being the best, or grouping up for unfair advantages against most players who don’t do the same. By doing it, your forcing the rest of the population wasting time they could be spending playing the game, hunting down friends, and strangers, to be able to actually have a fair game, and then stressing out during the game.

Thank you for the post. I feel like we are the minority. the “It is, what it is” explanation gets old after a while.
Just the thought of only being able to play 20 minutes is enough to make me sympathize with you, friend. My wife hates if I’m on more than 2 hours at a time, and I thought that was short. Hope you’re able to find some more spare time in the future.

I get a lot more time than 20 minutes total, but I can only sit down for 20 minutes at a time. Often times I play a game, then take dogs out, play a game, eat dinner, play a game, hang out with my kids, play two games, talk to wife, play 3 games, put son to bed, etc.
I am 19 and I have to agree after growing up with Halo, it has sucked the fun out in some cases. All we can really do now is look to the stars and hope.
In all honestly, I think losing some causal gamers wouldn’t be a bad thing for the matchmaking experience overall, but that’s not why we are here.
Granted you have a life, so do I, but no one is saying to find 11 friends and set a time to play. Add people as you play, make more friends and when you DO have time to play, see whos on and join them, no planning, no schedule, just grouping with friends and have some fun when your online at the same time.
It doesn’t take a 12 man party to prevent/break a spawn trap. 1 person with skill could do it, 2 good players could do it, 4 ok players could do it.
You don’t need a large party to enjoy the game, just a few people to have some fun with, even if your losing, what better time to pull our the suppressor and have some fun!
Honestly you have a better overall k/d than me. Ive never seen anyone with a lower k/d, but i dont really mind. If I competitively get wrecked against teams with mics and that are able to work with each other (I play solo most of the time) then I just take a brake and move on to a different gamemode. Dont get harsh feelings about it, Its normal in most competitive fps games to have to play against groups of players.

Problem there when you aren’t teamed up is quitters though. Which can also make for a frustrating experience two or three of your teammates drop out of the game, particularly when you only have time for a game or two. As far as I can see the best mode for casual players who aren’t in a full fireteam is BTB at the moment. Big fireteams looking to spawn camp or whatever will do much better in Warzone and having a couple players quit doesn’t completely ruin the game for the rest of the team, especially with JiP.

So limit yourself? That’s silly, I payed for the damn game and don’t want to feel frustrated all the time. Partially why I haven’t touched Halo 5 in weeks
