Critical Feedback From Gaming Community

Previous Halo 5 open pro league competitors and ambassadors representing previous gaming communities with thousands of players here …

Just wanted to share critical information that is vital to Halo 5 multiplayer truly prospering in late 2021 and beyond …

keys to remember
In the FPS category, speed is king

  • Apex Legends
  • Call of Duty
  • Halo 5
  • Fortnite …

Speed speed speed …

We understand that 343 wants to help embrace the communities plea for the traditional halo 1-3 feel, but please …

For future oriented, and modern FPS players (especially people coming from Halo 5) …

PLEASE do NOT devolve our game …

Halo infinite multiplayer feels like we are going back in time , effectively killing the functional competitive draw to it …

Thrusters and spartan abilities were such a vital piece to Halo 5’s game flow and speed … yet the honorable attempts to respond to the angry community effectively KILLED halo 5 …

Great in merit to see the response …
But we clearly saw how after the removal of these features , the game effectively died …

Please help us continue to evolve the Halo experience by learning from the past , but never devolving the critical components that keep us in the modern speed shooter genre

We WANT halo infinite to prosper,

But without things like the thruster pack default
And maybe spartan abilities , I’m sorry …

It looks like many of us seasonal and generational halo day 0 lovers may not be returning.

This does not feel like beyond Halo 5

It feels like Halo 4.5.

With love and respect,
Please start having the devs working intimately with ACTUAL halo veterans and competitive players that have logged years in gameplay into the future of this game.

For reference. We all remember how revolutionary the HCS (Halo championship series) was for the family my community.

For it was forward moving.

When too many changes were made to the game over the years (specifically referring to removing spartan abilities)

Arena and competitive play quickly faded .

We get it. Great mindset and and heart everyone…

But as a passionate gamer and leader …

I truly don’t want to lose faith in this game.
It’s been such a core piece of the lives of many.

And I hate to be in a place where many of us just simply don’t want to come back

Please help

I mean, no is all I can really say. Halo should be halo. Halo died when i chased trends… so as you listed 4 other possible games to playbi sugest you just play them and let the people who have missed thisnstyle of halo for years to play this. No every game has to be the same

I agree with loving and wanting the game to feel like the older halos ,

I LOVED halo 3.

However that’s the thing about forward progress.

It’s all about integrating the best parts of the game together, into a new found creation.

In the same spirit of being Pro Old halo,

I’m equally advocating for the same craved emotions felt about Halo 5.

It’s halo infinite! Let’s create a game where everyone wins!

I understand what you are saying. And thrusters are in the game. You can litrally set up custom games with those settings enabled.

But halo 5 died because ling term halo fans didnt like it. Its that simple.

Long term halo fans now seem happy (for the most part) with the current state of the games mechanics.

Grapple hook, drop sheild and the like are all great new features which support your forward moving idea.

The gun ay is ballanced for the most part and if we could just get to an input based matchmaking shstem like fortnite or sea of thevies we would have an even more ballanced play field.

Not everyone wants to be constantly boosting left and right during every gun fight. The ttk may feel long but its also nice to have a sheild that works.

I have lots of long term hali fans that wont play halo 5. But they all love the mcc and now they all love infinite. Halo 5 was the ugly stepchild of the franchise. I think 90% of players will be glad we have moved on.

Halo 5 is a product over the 2015 movement revolution in fps games that died by 2018. Thrusters and double jumps in shooters where a good experiment but very few people miss them. They why cod and other games went back to boots on the ground.

Im sorry you dont enjoy this current style of play but atleast you can accept that it’s unique to halo. There is no other games quite like it available at the moment.

For example …

Everybody hates being killed by a cheeky player who is camping a corner, or if someone just shoots you from behind or by the side …

The thruster pack allowed for skilled players, to thrust out of these situation, and then out shoot the other players, for some of the most rewarding feelings and moments in gaming.

Eliminating this reduces the gap between skilled players …

Also, the elimination of effective ghandi hopping also hurts this …

Halo 5 was most successful in sales, and the competitive scene was groundbreaking for all of eSports history, boasting the first multimillion dollar prize pool.

All done with thrusters and spartan abilities,
With all due respect :fist:

And the game has not a single casual fan. So you know what ever

Yes. I agree.

The casual scene got KILLED in halo 5.

Social is no longer social.

Halo 3 beats Halo 5’s sales numbers. halo 3 has sold over 14 million copies, halo 5 has only sold around 5 million. as much as i enjoyed halo 5, the grand majority of the halo community, pros included have been asking for a return to classic movement for a while now. it’s also become increasingly evident in recent years that players don’t enjoy advanced movement mechanics being baked into the player’s character, they also cause severe balancing issues. Pickups and such are fine, but Halo 5 quickly died because of advanced movement, so did the CoD games that featured it. Titanfall and Apex are the only very popular games with advanced movement, but they were designed from the outset with those in mind, halo was not and is not.

Shyway, a halo caster and pro put it best; when advanced movement is baked in, outplaying your opponent in a game like halo isn’t as impressive and lowers the skill gap. In halo 5 it was way too easy for me to get out of a deadly situation by simply thrusting or sliding, once you get the muscle memory down the game becomes so much easier because exposing myself in the open isn’t as dangerous . in infinite I have to move very deliberately and constantly be aware of my surroundings, because if i’m caught out in the open, in a bad spot, or make a poorly thought out play, it could get me killed. Infinite’s gameplay is what the core of halo has always been about, having awareness and being able to manipulate the sandbox in your favor better than the other team. when you bake in those movements and make them so easy to access and use, it devalues their impact and makes the game less enjoyable to watch because those big moments aren’t as big or exciting.

Your argument for why halo should have advanced movement is similar to the arguments that it needs a BR or a post i saw earlier arguing it should have loadouts. these things diminish what makes halo such a unique experience. while there is a place for thrusters and other advanced movement in halo, it’s where it currently is in Infinite, as a limited use equipment pickup that you have to be very deliberate about when you use to avoid wasting it.

At the end of the day Halo does best when it makes itself feel unique instead of chasing trends. Infinite is so much better than so many games on the market right now for that exact reason, because everything else just feels like a copy of each other. your statements about integrating the best parts of previous halos into infinite and creating a game where everyone wins has already happened. spartan abilities were largely disliked by the community as a whole, so they kept the least offensive one being thrusters and made it an equipment; while keeping sprint, slide, and clamber baseline abilities.
