Critical discussion-H4's Soundtracks *OLD

After ComiCon, E3, RTX and other reveals…

THIS: —> Halo 4 OST Concept Art - YouTube <—
is still the best soundtrack for H4?! OMG This makes me… sad!

Do you have somewhere some good soundtrack? Or do we get only more 0815* Hollywood DunDun Soundtracks soon?!
Halo 4 should take some risks right? But why the hell not with music?! I have the feelding you try to stay VERY VERY safe with your H4 music… or not? And then you try to make it epic… but the result will be: they won’t be epic :’(

  • O - M - G -

*0815 = standard, boring, something that you see every day

[btw: here is my old h4-music-topic: https://forums.halo.xbox.com/yaf_postst91392_Halo-4-music--s.aspx
… - but I decided to provoke again and a level harder :stuck_out_tongue: … I hope it helps!]

EDIT: The thread-titel has been changed [8.4.12] to keep it more ‘open’.

I like most of the music so far.

But it all comes down to how it fits in with the gameplay. If it fits great for the situation, its good for me.

But we have yet to see how that will work out, not much campaign gameplay besides E3.

I’m very sad soundtracks like these won’t be in Halo 4. :frowning:

Mass effect anyone?!.

You know what?!

I think Neil is just scared of the name “Halo 4”. And he is scared, because it HAS TO BE epic!
He is bunkering behind standard things - everything sounds same!!!

I guess he is just scared!!! Scared to make mistakes… Scared that ppl say: hey halo 4’s music is strange.
But IMO beeing scared and only try to make soundtracks >SAFE< is already a mistake.

I never was a friend of names… but now I have to say: I miss O’Donnell… sigh

[Here you see the next level of provocation :p]

I agreed with this AT FIRST but then i heard this.

Sounds like “Halo” “Metal Gear Solid” & “Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex” all rolled into one halo bearing action sound. Im interested to hear more diverse tracks rather than similar to what we heard already.

Which is an amazing combination in my opinion. I think the reason we have heard slightly repetitive tracks so far is to get the main stream fans to catch on. I believe Halo 4 will have many gems in its music

A small spark of hope…

I always thought that these recordings, performed in Abbey Road Studios, are beautiful and completely go against the whole “Hollywood Music” argument.

Microsoft owns the rights to everything halo, so 343 has no excuse to not using the classic theme. I hope it’s still in there.

Those recordings are amazing. Neil is doing a fine job.

Neil is doing a fantastic job. I feel that most people dislike his music only because his name isn’t Marty O’Donnell

So far I love all the music. Definitely miles ahead of Marty’s Lord Of The Rings knock off style.

The first part of that clearly shows that they are still keeping (if not changed a bit) the original halo theme.

And people are forgetting that these are just a small sample to what is going to be released on soundtrack.

That track is not his best. In fact, I don’t even consider that a track.

> That track is not his best. In fact, I don’t even consider that a track.

The only part of that track he posted that is good, is the bit past 0:56. Thats my opinion anyway.

i agree, most of it sounds like hollywood movie cliche’s not very unique and very over used, after listening to current tracks it dosnt spark any imagination for me and lacks a sense of wonder and curosity. I really dont mean to sound harsh but so far at this moment neil davidge has been a huge let down for me.

thats very true, but what makes soundtracks even better is if it has the ability to make people enjoy it when its outside of the game, when its out of centext of the game, so far i cant enjoy it when i just listen to it on youtube but as for in game experience will just have to find out.

We’ve heard portions of what? Like 3 songs? And I’ve loved every second of it. Don’t jump the gun.

The score almost always goes perfectly with what’s goin’ on in-game.
Wait till it’s out, then judge it

me too.
