I’m sure that many of you guys/gals (if not 90% of you) downloaded the Crimson Map pack for free. In this forum I have seen far too many posts complaining on how Microsoft is going to take back their Map Pack and how “unrighteous” they are for doing so. Why are so many people complaining? You got it for free in the first place so who cares if you lose your free map pass? Sure it blows, but most of you did exploit a glitch and downloaded it for free. All Microsoft is doing is simply taking back their free meal ticket.
By saying “all sales are final” it could mean that all users who got it for free got it permanently. If not then they are in breach of their own contract.
Which, in most countries, they can’t do. Once you purchase something, that’s it. It’s yours, as is. With xbox live, you’re purchasing the license to use it, with no ‘fine print’ about a trial.
I’m not mad that I’m losing a map pack, I’m disappointed in 343/microsoft’s treatment of this, and fear for them later down the road.
Edit: This being in regards to the OP.

However nobody that downloaded the Map Pack for free purchase anything. Its not infringing anything or hurting anyone if they decide to pull the cord on a free meal ticket. Besides, how are they going to get sued over this? Everything on Xbox Live can be changed considering its all Microsoft’s property.
The problem isn’t that they revoked the maps, not a big deal.
The problem is their handling of the issue and the lies being fabricated in the public view to cover their mistakes.
I have tried to download the new map pack, as it maybe free for some its nit for all, it wants me to pay for it. Any ideas…
What corporation hasn’t done that?

Why is it a problem that they are covering up. This is their way of fixing the problem, the only problem people having the problem are the greedy
ones wanting compensation.
maps blow anyways so who cares??
So i wait,i pay for a map pack,a product i am supposed and MUST HAVE IT,just so others can get it for free? How is this not being cheated, how is this not enough to give something in exchange,if it’s greedy then i hope the ones who got it for free get their xbox burned to ashes and whoever agrees with them.
First they make this a stupid COD clone, they removed loads of options, and now this crap. And i though this was supposed to be Halo 3 in terms of fun,it’s worse than COD.Halo…i will miss you
The problem is MS’s communication of this. There are going to be plenty of people out there who downloaded the maps for free, but don’t pay attention to the forums or gaming news. I’ve only seen 2 gaming websites with their press release…and they both had different interpretations of what they said.
It could mean, “Free until the 18th” OR “Use it for free until the 18th. Free access expires after that.”
All we got was “Complimentary access, for a limited time.”
Everyone who doesn’t find that message will be absolutely livid if MS takes away the maps. They need to at least send out an email to everyone, with all of the legal fine print they need to make sure they aren’t held accountable.
We just need to know for sure which it is.

LolNo. “All sales are final” refers to you not getting your money back for purchasing a content license. They still reserve the right to revoke said license at any time for any reason. It’s in the ToS.
