Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge on Xbox One?

Does anyone remember this game from the original Xbox? Great game; best flying game I’ve ever played, and one of the top Xbox Live games of the original console.

Unfortunately, there were never any sequels… the studio that made it closed down a decade ago. Which is a shame, because the game had a lot of potential; I loved the ideas behind the 1930s alternate universe, the division of the United States, and sky piracy as much as I loved the air combat.

I keep hoping that Microsoft, or some developer might try to bring this game back. An HD remake the likes of Halo: CE Anniversary on Xbox One, complete with the original multiplayer and campaign modes; plus some new features, like the ability to use the multiplayer DLC aircraft (the Fury, Hellhound, Firebrand, and Vampire) in the campaign, to keep them in your hangar and even upgrade them like the rest of the planes. I also wouldn’t say no to them bringing back some of the planes from the PC game, like the Warhawk, Kestrel, Raven, and Balmoral…

Heck, if the HD remake were a success, maybe they could even carry Crimson Skies further with a sequel. I’d like that; there hasn’t been a good action-oriented flying game that can hold a candle to Crimson Skies since the game came out on the original Xbox. There aren’t enough action flying games on consoles, period; lots of shooters, though. Halo, Destiny, Call of Duty, DOOM, Titanfall, Far Cry, and so many more… where’s the love for flying combat games?

I vaguely remember Crimson skies, if I recall, I think I ended up beating the story mode. It was so long ago I can barely remember anything from that game. I remember playing Gun, that was a good game.

I feel the demand for a remake of a fairly obscure game is pretty low. It would be a pretty sweet Xbox exclusive.

Yo I loved Crimson skies, and I want it back so bad.

YES! Please someone pick this game back up and remaster it or make a sequel. The multi-player was so much fun. I lost months of my life playing this game on live.

there was TC’s HAWKS… but I think the best flying game other there currently is bf 4 and it isn’t even considered a jet fighter game.

Didn’t some of the developers of Crimson Skies work on the space portions of Halo Reach and Halo 4? They did a pretty good job on that. Would be interested in a game like that.

One of Bungie’s gameplay designers, Sage Merrill, did work on the space mission in Halo: Reach. But no one from the Crimson Skies team worked on the space battle in Halo 4; probably why it wasn’t as much fun… no dogfighting, just flying down a corridor and shooting stationary turrets.

Crimson Skies prioritized action over realistic flight mechanics, and that’s part of what made it so much fun. HAWKS is a traditional flight sim, completely different from Crimson Skies, and nowhere near what I’d look for in a flying game.

In Crimson Skies, you get to pilot a variety of hotrod planes with unique weapons and engage in dogfights in open levels with free-roam with lots of optional missions, and even take on enemy zeppelins or man AA guns. In HAWKS, you get to pretend you’re a jet fighter pilot and engage in repetitive dogfights while struggling with imitative controls. Not fun.

Crimson Skies also more interesting story and lore behind it than “this is how World War III might happen”.

never played it, the game i want to see return is freedom fighters.

I would love to play Crimson Skies on the Xbox One! I still have the disc but no system.

Raising this from the dead but I just wanted to say this was one of my favorite Xbox live games. I spent so many hours mastering it. I made it to the top 100 leaderboard several times. It was so much fun.

I never knew anyone that didn’t love a good blimp shooter. Great game, especially got messy with 16 players. I always thought of it as a “better starfox” (don’t get me wrong, I love starfox but it was still a pretty limited game).

Still have my disc, still play it as a warmup before my Halo 2 LANs.

Don’t do that.

Thanks.
