… completely suck. I mean, really? One, there is some serious lag, especially split screen issues. Granted, this is something that can be fixed so that’s easily looked past. There are other issues though.
Size: The maps are WAY too big. I get making a big map for BTB, but you don’t have to make every single map that large. Harvest was suppose to be a “small to medium sized arena style map.” that is probably the most inaccurate description of a map I’ve seen. If 343 is gonna make an arena style map, take a lesson from Bungie (who made one of the best arena based competitive shooters, and the creators of the exact game series you’re now adding to) and look at huge hits like Warlock, The Pit, Midship, etc. It seems like they’re using sprint as an excuse to make big maps, and that’s not the style that Halo is. Even Battlefield has issues with maps being too large, and that’s a game made for large scale battles.
Layout: These maps, along with most of the maps in Halo 4, have way too many narrow hallways, nooks and crannies, and all sorts of stuff like that. Its like they’re practically asking people to camp in the game. With how ridiculous Camo is as an AA and how OP the boltshot is, making maps with either vehicle areas or close quarters areas takes away from the team based game play Halo is known for.
I don’t know, maybe its just me, but I miss the competitive, team based shooter that made Halo the huge hit it used to be. I get that in order for a game to survive it needs to evolve, but you can do that without taking core ideas from other games and just throwing them in there. Hopefully the next two map packs will be better and bring something to the table for the more hardcore and competitive players.
Harvest IS small. I can get from one base to the other in less than a minute. The maps even smaller than Zanzibar, which was also a small-medium sized maps with Ghost and Warthog battles.
100% agree here. The Maps of Halo 4 are without a doubt, too large. There needs to be several large maps; But there also needs to be several medium and small maps. That’s not the case unfortunately. The past Halo’s have always had a wide variety of sizes, the maps in this game all feel like carbon copies of eachother. Randomly assorted buildings with dirt or metal inclines, rocks jutting about the ground everywhere, SHIIIIIINNNNNNEEEEYYYY silver walls, and there seems to be always one place in the map where it’s just a ledge that you can look at the scenic background on.
I SINCERELY hope the next map packs will introduce smaller sized maps… y’know, meant for smaller gametypes. It’s getting to be quite ridiculous.

It seems to me like the maps mostly serve to counter close-range combat and camping. They feature long lines of sight, a large number of vehicular paths, and fairly open spaces. The bases tend to be a little more closed-in, but seeing as they’re used for spawn hives, that’s to be expected.
I’ve never once been killed by a Camo-Boltshot corner-camper or anything of the sort on Wreckage or Shatter. A Camo guy got me inside of a Shatter base once, but that was with a DMR and was just because I’m bad. I’ll admit that I haven’t had the opportunity to play Harvest yet, so I can’t argue for it.

> Haven is a small map. Harvest is not a small map.
Well, I have been messing around with stuff like hills on the maps and Harvest is only a little longer than haven. Harvest is just more open.
