So, you did get what you paid for permanently, and the people downloading it for free will only have it for one-week trial. So you don’t deserve any refund or compensation. Sorry for your troubles.
Analogy: If people buy XBL gold for one year, and then Microsoft comes out with a 7-day free trial for Xbox Live promotion, should the people with 1-year XBL get a $60 refund? No.

I actually feel sad if it’s a trail. My friends thought it was for free but I guess not. I bought the map pass so I’m getting them anyways.

And yes they can disable the map packs for those who have it for a week just like Steam does the free weekend things with games like CoD and L4D.
Where are the terms and conditions for this “free trial”? MS making them up after the fact of people downloading is outragous and im sure highly improper and quiet possibly illegal under contractual law and sales laws.

This. Those who believe that -Yoink!- did this on purpose to “thank it’s consumers” and 343’s “devout Halo 4 followers” need a reality check. lol

Not legally, plus you could always re download it from your download history.
And all the BS about it being a free trial yeah right they are not going to remove the maps after the 18th.
Pretty much, the spec codes came attached with a war games pass and i anticipate the next two map packs being free as well for those with a spec code.

They can’t rip the maps off someone’s hard drive, but they can stop them from playing it online. So everyone gets it for free on customs?

It is quite illegal, though no one will ever do anything about it. -Yoink!- is simply lying to cover its mistake. I would be dumbfounded if -Yoink!- actually, on purpose, made the Crimson map pack a free trial. But they didn’t, so it is what it is.
Funny how lots of people are so quick to believe what they read with respect to public statements in general.
Oh I am well aware of it being a pr spin, I am also well aware that they can disable the maps for those who do not have a season pass or did not use the 800ms purchase option.
Can they rip them off your HD? absolutely not.
can they disable you from playing them in MM? absolutely
