As you may have heard, recently we provided a bonus to the Halo community who took part in our “14 Day, Buy and Play” program – a trial version of the Crimson Map Pack. As this access ends, there are some things you should know in order to ensure your Halo experience is uninterrupted. Check out our FAQ for all the details:
I purchased the War Games Map Pass and downloaded the Crimson Map Pack. Do I have to do anything to keep playing on the new maps?
You won’t have to do a thing. You can continue playing the Crimson Map Pack as normal.
What if I purchased the Crimson Map Pack individually on the Marketplace?
Don’t worry – you don’t have to do a thing. Your access to the Crimson Map Pack will be uninterrupted.
I downloaded the Crimson Map Pack as part of the “14 Day – Buy and Play” program, but haven’t purchased either the War Games Map Pass or the Crimson Map Pack.
Now that the complimentary access period to the Crimson Map Pack has ended, you will no longer have access to the Crimson Map Pack unless you purchase either the War Games Map Pass or the Crimson Map Pack individually. If you do not wish to purchase this content, and you are receiving the error “Unable to validate. Please make sure you are connected to Xbox LIVE and have the War Games Pass downloaded,” then you will need to delete the Crimson Map Pack content from your Xbox hard drive in order to stop the error message from displaying. If you need further information on how to delete this content from your hard drive, you can check out the support article titled “Copy, move or delete Xbox saved games, profiles and avatar items.”
I downloaded the Crimson Map Pack as part of the “14 Day – Buy and Play” program, then purchased the War Games Map Pass offer. What do I do now?
Nothing! You will be able to continue playing the Crimson Map Pack with no interruptions.
I downloaded the Crimson Map Pack as part of the “14 Day – Buy and Play” program, then purchased the Crimson Map Pack offer. I’m getting an error when I try to launch Halo 4 saying “Unable to validate. Please make sure you are connected to Xbox LIVE and have the War Games Pass downloaded.” How can I fix this?
If you see this error, in order to continue enjoying the Crimson Map Pack, you will need to re-download the Crimson Map Pack from your Purchase History. If you need help finding your Purchase History, visit the support article titled “View your purchase history and download content again.”
I downloaded the Specializations code but was not granted access to the Crimson Map Pack. Can I still get access to the trial?
Unfortunately now that the trial period is over, you won’t be able to have complimentary access to the Crimson Map Pack. You can purchase the Crimson Map Pack individually on the Marketplace, or purchase the War Games Map Pass to get access to the Crimson Map Pack and more maps as they become available!
How would you know what you downloaded was part of the “14 Day – Buy and Play” program, also, was the “0 microsoft point” download still count as a purchase?
I really don’t think you guys intended this for a trial someone messed up and now your trying to pass it off as a trial to take it back. You should of let the first map pack be free for that -Yoink- up on the specializations.
I was so mad when they released the map pack one month after release. Shows that your greedy for money, not just putting them in the game. Then I thought I gained faith in 343 when they gave them away for free a couple days later, I felt it made up for being stuck at level 70 for almost two weeks while everyone else got there specializations codes. which is so dumb anyway. Why must you be so unprofessional at building your name in the industry, Halo was all I could stand to play until reach, which this game is reach on steroids. Halo 4, not Halo Reach:2, you have lost my heart Halo and I am deeply hurt.
At least put my king of the Hill playlist back in, so I can stop beating my head into this wall. (Without DLC requirement) I refuse to buy these maps they aren’t that good anyway I just wanted the achievements.
I think I need therapy, I just want to break down in tears with what has happened to my game. I just pray someday there will be a real Halo game again.
I will never buy another map pack. Not just because of the complete lack of quality/originality in Crimson, but because it’s a horrible and petty business practice to take away something that you gave away for free to your loyal customers. I’ve had numerous orders from places like Amazon and Walmart.com modify prices, or cancel pre-orders due to not having enough stock, and they’ve always given some small token of compensation as a sign of good faith, and I’ve continued to use their services regularly as a result.
I will give in at some point and buy maps, this game is my life. I just wish I could actually truly enjoy this multiplayer. Or get over there corporate GREED. They will gain millions off this map pack. But I guess I can go without food to afford it.
