Can anyone explain or point me to an explanation of offline credits and online credits.
I want to know is it worth it if i take my credits online and what happens if i do?
Does my offline rank and armor drop? If yes by how much??
Currently ranked Legend 5 million credits. If i was to trade/go online with them what would i be ranked off and on line ???

You will not be able to keep the five million credits or Legend rank, you will be ranked back down to Recruit I believe.
Its to prevent cheaters.

I think this post made by Bungie right before Reach was released best answers your question. Here is what they wrote:

Some of the laziest among us are no doubt already plotting out their path of least resistance, thinking of ingenious new ways to rubber band a controller to achieve a Zen like state of ridiculous effortlessness.
Not so fast. When you escort your offline profile into the wonderful world of Xbox LIVE, our servers will identify your newly connected status and instantly notify you that our online credit scale operates on a completely different level. (That fizzle sound you’re hearing is probably your boosters running out of fuel in an oxygen starved environment. Don’t look down, RocketMan.)
If you choose to remain offline with your decked out profile, you get to keep your ducats and your duds with no questions asked. But should you opt to take this party online, your credits will be reduced significantly and any Armory items that you had previously earned (for which you no longer meet the minimum online credit or rank requirements) will be righteously revoked.
Of course, the credit reduction that occurs when you make the move into cyberspace is completely by design. Ive authenticated my account shortly after getting the answers, since i`d been playing and earnings credits online for a short time before i did this my RANK when i did get (( hi way robbed by Bungie/343)) was actualy a Major G1. Still a long dam way to fall IMHO.
As for that last quote with the inferance of rubber bands, thus amounts to CHEATING in my book. All my offline and now online credits were/are earned with honest hard work not to mention many hours/days/weeks in FORGE WORLD 
Since ive have been authenticated and online ive found the multi-player experiance to be somewhat tainted and full of (( new words ive since learnt)) LAGG SWITCHING and HOST THEIFT
and much to my annoince and dismay it seems to be run of the mill in the ONLINE WORLD.
If id known what i know now back then id never have bothered with trading my hard earned credits in to be robbed and swindled on a daily basis by lazy no good cheats…Grrrr
Challanges that force you to play multi-player matchmaking games are a waste of time for casual honest players IMHO.
2 months of this online and im so pissed aff aw ready ive already decided not to renew my membership when the year is out. ((( unless there is a HUGE improvment in BANNING CHEATERS LAGGERS AND MOD PADZ )))

You were NOT robbed, you chose yourself to sacrafice those credits to play online on Xbox LIVE, you could have always made a new account and kept your offline account off Xbox LIVE.

My NAT type is open and my wireless connection is strong and secure.
I have thearter films to prove my claims of lag switching and modded padz… if you want to add me to your BUD list you can download them from my files and see what i mean for yourself.
If i feel im cheated via laggin/mod padz i DO file a report against them, but doesnt seem to have any effect there accounts are still enabled, hence my feelings of frustration.
I have also send dozens of emails to them on this issue with not one reply… so far 6 weeks ago i sent my 1st email, i`da thought they would have got back to me by now.

No wireless connection is the strongest compared to Ethernet, you should really consider changing that, wireless can be very unreliable, even when you think otherwise.
I’ll check out your file share later on and post back what I see, I don’t need to add you to view your files.
If the users are not being banned, it is likely they are not cheating as you think they are.

Well i do not know how to do the halo reach credit generator if you look it up on google.com it does nothing (at least not on my laptop) so just play the game and get alot of credits by commendations and challenges.
