Credits in ranked?

Would be interesting to see how it’d look if Credits were awarded in Ranked both through achieving milestones and at the end of a season.
For instance;

Complete placement matches: 10 Credits
Complete 100 matches: 150 Credits
Complete 200 matches: 350 Credits

End of Season Awards after having player atleast 150 Ranked Matches:
Bronze: 50 Credits
Silver: 100 Credits
Gold: 150 Credits
Platinum: 200 Credits
Diamond: 250 Credits
Onyx: 500 Credits

A: These values are not in any way absolute or set in stone. They are examples to illustrate the idea.

B: Yes, desynch etc exist.

Wouldn’t this attract lots of casual players, who don’t actually want to play ranked, with disastrous results for the quality to matches?

Potentially, though people not taking it seriously would drop down with Ranks so there’d be some sort of “filtering” as those would start getting matched together, so they’d be in some form of “ELO hell”.

Although, more Credits at higher end ranks could motivate people to take it more seriously and make an effort to do good. Even hopefully going into the realm of “grouping up”, even if it is just to avoid people who slack.

Yes, afking and other types of inactivity would undoubtedly be tried, however it’s going to be interesting to see how this newly implemented ingame report system will work, and as long as people make use of it I imagine it could weed out that kind of player.

We did have “Play X amount of Ranked Matches” which did force players into ranked sure, I can see the resemblance there. Though I’d like to argue that those were challenges which took a spot in the “Tracked Challenges” for players, there was a week deadline and those herded players into specific modes, much like the other types like “Play X matches of Rumble Pit”.

Credit rewards over a season wouldn’t really take up a spot anywhere to prevent something else for player, be on a tight deadline or in that regard force players into a mode they don’t really feel like playing in the same sense that weekly challenges continued to do week after week.
