In complete honesty Halo is my favorite game of all time. Yes I am a halo 3 addict and have my best memories from that game.
Yes I didn’t like halo 4, the game was the furthest from halo Ive ever seen.

supply drops
hideous active camo as a AA
along with AAs in general in that game
extremely unbalanced sprint
flinch
not being able to drop the flag

But in my honest opinion halo 5 was a huge step forward and is the funnest and most competitive halo since halo 3

sprint was balanced by adding the recharge meter cool down (resetting once you sprint to prevent people running away from death while shields recharge) and the sprint charge up time (If shot while trying to begin sprinting it will cancel it out)

These were huge game changing balances that I truly appreciate.

Guns are are now very balanced, some of the best in the series I think, except for the guns that still haven’t been nerfed since the game released (most of all plasma weapon and forerunner weapons, and hydra. Why have a heatseeking gun that is a 2 shot kill? Very OP). I truly thought all guns were too powerful and killed too fast but since the weapon rebalance it’s been a lot better

Things that can improve that still hurt the game in my opinion

-vehicles are too overpowered, the warthog chain gun melts people( due to there being very little to no recoil or spread and very damaging bullets
-Vehicles splatter people too easy and damage people way too much for just bumping into them
-assault rifle has too little recoil, past ARs could barely should the distance of 20 yards accurately if holding down the trigger, now the gun is extremely accurate both holding down the trigger and burst firing, due to low recoil and spread and fast reset time (recoil animation resetting to idle)
-pistol is too powerful and has too much range, I know it’s op because it hasn’t been nerfed, I do however like the feel of it, it has no random spread so it truly comes down to skill during pistol shootouts, very fluid and smooth gameplay. I just think it should take a few more milliseconds to be able to fire again, it shoots very fast for having no spread, but I know it’s balacned around other guns and spartan abilities
-^ I am pro non-sprint and abilities for competitive play and that’s why. Due to being able to move and evade faster the guns are balanced around that by being more accurate and powerful than ever before, which makes them seem like they “melt” people when in an ordinary engagement (which lessens skill gap) without the use of evade type Abilities
-sprint startup I think would benefit if it took an additional second before becoming locked into sprint (not being able to be shot back into walking animation) due to people still running away from battle if they’re about to die. (It’s a crutch for people who would have been destined to losing the engagement without the use of sprint, which adds skill)

To close id personally love it if halo infinite went back to classic movement mechanical and game/gun play, but if not I hope 343 continues off the balancing that we have seen at this current state of halo 5, which is very appreciated and has made for some of the most fun and competitive games I’ve ever seen. Doubles is my life right now with my roommate. Even thought yal added variant weapons to arena from war zone which yal promised yal wouldn’t do… yea I remember that. Keep to your word please and remove them because they are OP. Song of peace most of all, heat seeking automatic with high damage, what’s the point of that? Makes competitive matches furious when players live off that gun. I outshoot him with skill but his bullets are heatseeking and very powerful with no trade-off, ruins the game for me at times

I’d have to offer a firm disagreement here. Vehicles in Halo 5 have lost a lot of dignity, especially in WarZone modes. There’s way to many power weapons available, and gunners on warthogs are incredible exposed to all the weapons in the game that have laser beam accuracy. With the fast speed of Spartans, boarding vehicles has never been easier. I once contributed to taking out a Hannibal Mantis and some kind of scorpion late in a match using only a Req 2 normal Plasma Pistol. I didn’t even do much, I just EMP’d both and within a blink a friendly spartan was planting a grenade.

Anyway, everything else I can respect even if I don’t 100% agree with it. I can see where you’re coming from at least.

I agree with Covermymeds. If anything, vehicles seem underpowered in Halo 5. Warthog chain guns are supposed to melt people.

I love all of the ONI variants because they have remind me of what vehicles use to be like. Getting into a vehicle in Halo 4 was suicide, but even with infinite sprint in Halo 5 those cannons aren’t to be taken lightly.

As for rest, I’d definitely say Halo 5 is a step in the right direction from Halo 4.
