I have been thinking about this for a while but I believe that the Created Conflict with Cortana and Master Chief’s story coming to an end will take two more games rather than one with Halo 6 in 2018 and Halo 7 in 2021 and thus Halo 5 Halo 6 and Halo 7 are the trilogy. Here are my reasons for believing this.
-
Halo 5 Guardians is the 2nd core Halo game to have a subtitle with the first being Halo Combat Evovled and the first game started a trilogy and so will Halo 5.

Halo 5 Guardians felt like the first act of a three part play rather than the first half of a two part play. Loose ends from Halo 4 and in between are tied up where Jul Mdama is killed his covenant faction eliminated and Cortana the “new” villain rising to power to rule the galaxy and I have a feeling that since implicitly in the game that humanity will not stand for a AI controlled galaxy that she will declare war to exterminate all humanity. It will take more than one game to resolve a conflict so massive.
3, The last game in the trilogy and probably where Master Chief will sacrifice Himself to stop Cortana will if the traditional timeline gap between games follows Halo 6 2018 and Halo 7 2021 than 2021 is when Halo 7 will come out EXACTLY 20 years after Halo 1 came out.
4, I personally desire to play two full games of Master Chief after the letdown of him becoming a side character in Halo 5.
What do you think?
