Create your own Halo 5 opening Plot

I think it’s a safe bet that many here get ideas for how you or I would start up Halo 5 so I will ask you all what ideas you have or would like to see.

-HALO 5-

Opening cut seen: A dimly lit meeting room full of smoke. Camera pans into a discussion being held by military brass. “do you think it’s a good idea to put them all together for this foolish operation” said one commander to the other. " If the threat is creditable… They are first and last option" said commander two, scene switches over to a backside view of a tall plate man running a fully masked stress test on a treadmill with doctors and nurses attending to him, then the camera zooms in closer to the read out on the treadmill shows a speed climbing to inhuman speeds. Dialogue over heard during is from the dark room meeting where one commander says " are you sure he is fit to lead them", the commander two replies “your doubts are not without merit, we still aren’t sure what effects the librarian’s tinkering did to him, but he is always pulling of the impossible even for one of them”, next seen Master Chief having his Armour put back on (helmet on of course) then the commander two walks in saluting MC, MC returns salute. " Master Chief come with me I’m going to brief you on this mission" this conversation take place during a short walk to the meeting room which is now brighter and smoke free" Master Chief this mission is going to be unusual… the thing is we recently received a distress signal with a very old top secret ONI encoding way outside of all known Human and Coventant territories" a extended pause and then Master Chief response " what’s the mission sir" commander twos response " Chief this is well beyond normal circumstances, here I’ll play the section of Audio that made it though so you will understand", audio is static and mostly unclear “…Spartan Team…imminent danger…” next the commander two says “Master Chief that message is over fifty years old and it’s got everyone scared that’s why we need you and (as he says this other Spartans in full armor walk in the door) you’re going lead them to solve this mystery” next scene is all the Spartans in cyro sleep tubes on a small ship coming to a frozen planet, the ship flies into the atmosphere and lands in sight of a crashed and frozen over old UNSC ship wreck.the next scene is Master chief and the other Spartans in a warthog driving to the wreck and in this scene the is a dialogue to establish the other Spartans’ names and character type, the next scene is the team in the wreck shooting a few minor pests as they investigate the when, where and how. then they discover that a survivor is in a cryo tube and then they take a hurried walk to defrost the survivor which to everyone’s amazement is a Spartan I. and it goes from there…

> “…Spartan Team…imminent danger…” next the commander two says “Master Chief that message is over one hundred years old

Wait, why is there a one-hundred year old Spartan Team? I’m a little lost.

> > “…Spartan Team…imminent danger…” next the commander two says “Master Chief that message is over one hundred years old
>
> Wait, why is there a one-hundred year old Spartan Team? I’m a little lost.

well i miscalculated a little, 50 is more like it

A 50 year old Spartan team would have to be Orion Spartans or something… like a squad of Sgt. Johnsons. Not the Spartans we’re used to.

Here’s my opening cut scene:

Fade from black

Wide shot of Cairo Station above Earth. A Frigate and Escort fighters fill the screen as they fly by.

LORD HOOD
“What do you mean the Master Chief is missing?”

Cut to Lord Hood’s office Serin Osman is sitting across from him, arms crossed.

OSMAN
“Missing in action, Admiral.”

LORD HOOD
“Off the record?”

OSMAN
“Classified.”

LORD HOOD
“We both know ‘Spartans never die.’ Look, I know John’s not dead Serin. What are you up to?”

OSMAN
“We lost contact with Sierra 117 and his team several hours ago. It seems communication between here and there has gone from intermittent to impossible. Like I said, missing.”

LORD HOOD
“Where exactly is ‘there’ Serin?”

Cut to a fierce sand storm a single cloaked figure comes into view, Pan out for a wider overhead shot two other cloaked figures enter the frame. A fourth comes running up to them.

FRED
“John, are you sure we’ll find Bias’ tomb in this sandstorm?”

JOHN
“We’re close.”

KELLY
(Jogs up beside them) “Nothing but desert for miles ahead. No sign of that tower Infinity saw from orbit either. The Ark sure did take a beating.”

FRED
“John, you mentioned something about Guardians, seekers?”

Quick flashes from the past. The Iso Didact lowering Mendicant Bias into the tomb.
BIAS
“Atonement”

FRED
“John?”

KELLY
“John your vitals just peeked.”

JOHN
“I’m fine. Those seekers might not give us trouble they should recognize us as ‘Reclaimers.’”

LINDA
“What if we’re not meant to awaken this thing?”

JOHN
“We have to. Bias is our only way to stop what’s coming, what the Librarian warned me about.”

KELLY
“John, are you sure you’re ok for the field? I know that after New Phoenix, after Cortana…”

JOHN
“I’m fine.”

The camera pans facing John’s front, the Cloak slips a little revealing Cortana’s chip on a chain. The camera switches to Johns POV and puts the chip in his hand.

LINDA
“Eyes open Blue, motion up ahead.”

Fade to white.

Hmm, I really dig yours.
Plausible, good pacing, and some nice dialogue in there.
Nice job.

Though, one correction I’d suggest:
Here, where you wrote, "JOHN
“I’m fine. Those seekers might not give us trouble they should recognize us as ‘Reclaimers.’” → maybe cut out the part about the not-so-subtle reference to the Reclaimers and just say, “…they should recognize us.” I figure referencing something like that should not be so obvious. And then perhaps later in the story, the story reveals, in some way, why they were recognized (obviously, them being Reclaimers). Just an opinion, though.

But overall, really good.

If chief gets new armor there should be a cut-scene showing him armor up or one of those in-game dialogues like Halo 2 when “DO you have any idea how much this armor cost…‘Tell that to the covenant’” king of things. Im not gifted with story telling as I see from reading these post so I hope someone can interpret it for me.

I really like the AssociateMan’s. Very well. I’ll give this a go as well.

Black screen; hear the Ur-Didact speaking
“The Reclaimers were meant to protect us.”
Cuts to quick scene with John battling the Flood on 04.
“They only succeed in dooming us more.”
Another scene: Explosions of a grueling Covenant-Human battle, then to the Ark, prepping to be fired.
“And so they must pay the price. Infinitely.”
Glowing orange eyes appear on the black screen, those of a War Sphinx.
“But there is one that is above all others. Legend…”

Quick, faded flashbacks of John’s battle through Requiem pop through the scene. Faintly in the background, you can hear desperate cries. Familiar…
"John! Wake Up, John! John! I need you!..
Flashbacks end with Cortana’s terminal being destroyed.
Scene fades to the Master Chief, aboard the UNSC Infinity, who jumps out of the resting quarters with a start. His armor is on, minus the helmet. Camera is at his back. Tussles of untidy brown can be seen.
An explosion from an outer source rocks the chamber.
A young marine scrambles into the room.

“Chief! Infin…huhh… Infinity’s under attack!”
The marine finally catches his breath and looks up.
He takes in the Chief’s face (which isn’t shown) and shakes his head.
“You need a haircut for a Spartan.”
Securing his helmet to his head, the Master Chief replies with a rare sense of dry humor.
“Couldn’t find a barber on Requiem.”
Another explosion; Chief follows the marine to the brig, grabbing a Battle Rifle as they pass a cache.

Captain Lasky and Commander Sarah Plamer are waiting for him. Palmer speaks,
“Well, well, if it isn’t the sleeping beauty. Lock and load, Spartan. Apparently the Covies beat us to Installation 07.”
Lasky speaks as well,
“We also found a childhood friend for you to play with as well.”
A door hisses open; Thel Vadam steps through.

“So,” John says. “Where’s our ride?”

Mines going to be a bit different from the usual flare…

(Camera pans out to an unknown fighter of unknown but human make)

Pilot: So… That’s where the fleet is assembling…

(Pan out to see a UNSC fleet out a bit outside Earth)

Pilot: Heh, so that’s it then.

UNSC ATC: Unknown fighter, break off your flight pattern or we will open fire.

Pilot (now over open coms): For all of my fallen brothers and sisters, for the ideas of freedom, Graves! I have returned!

(Ships begin firing at the fighter, the fighter fires a large missile just as it comes apart from the hail of fire, pan to the missle, on the casing is a single word, Nova.)

Radio chatter: did any one see what it fired? Who was that? Was that an Innie? Sure wasn’t one of those covies. Sir, high source of radiation emanating from the missle, Oh God, It’s a Nova bomb! Evade! Too late, Unable to dodge!

(Missile hits main ship of the fleet, a large flash occurs, in fades the word HALO 5 in. The debris field)

I’ll give it a shot. Please excuse any typos, I type faster than I think lol.

Opens with a fly-by of various planets, solar systems, stars, and other various space objects. Just before passing through a nebula, scene cuts to the UNSC Infinity’s engines being fired up. Camera scrolls past the name on the side of this ship, then zooms out to display the Infinity with various UNSC ships surrounding it. Scene then cuts to black.

*Scene opens up inside of Captain Lasky’s private quarters, as he watches some of his brother’s old video messages that he received while attending Corbulo Military Academy. There is a knock on the door, and Lasky quickly closes the video feed, and opens the door, with Palmer standing outside, dressed in casual UNSC wear.

Palmer: “Captain Lasky, sir. I’m not intruding or anything, am I?”

Lasky: “Not at all, Palmer. Come in, please. What can I do for you?”

Lasky directs Palmer to his desk as they both sit down.

Palmer: “Well, Captain, it’s nothing to be worried about right now, so I could come back later if you’d prefer.”

Lasky: “Please, Palmer, just tell me what’s on your mind, I need some urgent news anyway, all this downtime we’ve had since stopping the Didact is starting to get to me.”

Palmer: “Well, it’s the Chief, sir.”

Lasky: “What about him? Is his mental condition deteriorating without Cortana?”

Palmer: “The lab rats did some tests and he comes out clean, but there’s just something off about him, he seems… tense. Really tense. I know that’s pretty much normal for him, but he seems much more tense than usual, and tends to lock himself away in his quarters, sometimes even for days at a time.”

Lasky: “Well, if you’re that worried, we can go have a talk with him, see what’s up. He may be quiet, but he does follow chain-of-command. If I ask him what’s going on in a demeanor that seems like I’m giving orders, I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of this in no time. Last thing I need is a Spartan losing their marbles, and certainly not him. Come on, you can take a shuttle with me, most of the staff are either asleep or tucked away in some dingy corner working on lord knows what.”

Palmer: “Seems like you’re asking me out on a date, captain. Just us two in the shuttle, staff are asleep…”

Lasky: “Sure, just don’t go telling Osman, she’s already pissed about me giving orders to prevent the assassination of Halsey, last thing I need her to find out is that I’m dating military personnel. She’d probably have you assassinate me as some form of twisted irony.”

Palmer: “Eh, at least you’d die loved.”

Lasky: “Thanks, very comforting thought.”

They enter the shuttle and make their way down to the barracks, arriving at John’s door. They knock, but there’s no answer. Lasky knocks again. No answer.

Lasky: Chief? You in there? This is Captain Lasky, me and Commander Palmer would just like talk for a bit, if that’s okay."

No answer

Palmer: “I know he was here earlier, I saw him as I was walking by on my way to come talk to you.”

Lasky: “Chief? … John? … Okay, I’m coming in.”

Lasky opens the door, and to his surprise, finds the room mostly empty, with only casual UNSC wear folded on the bed, and everything else gone, most notably, John’s helmet and Cortana’s data chip, which were both hanging on the wall, were gone as well

Lasky: “-Yoink-, let’s get to the suit bay, there’s only one reason he’d take his helmet and that data chip with him, and he’s sure as hell not putting that armor on by himself, no matter how strong he is.”

Palmer and Lasky take a shuttle to the suit bay, where there are a couple of Spartan IV’s playing with different armor sets and pieces, but John is nowhere to be seen.

Lasky: “Hey! Has anybody here seen the Master Chief?”

Suit Engineer: “Yeah, about 20 minutes ago, said he needed his armor equipped for a mission, didn’t say what mission. I helped him get it on, then he asked if we had any Pelicans in the hangar and I told him we did, after that, he took off like a bat outta Hell.”

Lasky: “-Yoink!-! Come on Palmer, we have to haul -Yoink- to the hanger, I don’t know what he’s trying to pull here, but we can’t let him leave!”

They take the the shuttle and arrive in the hangar to find the Pelican as it’s just about to launch. Chief looks behind him while sitting in the cockpit, and notices Lasky and Palmer rushing to the control room to stop the launch.

John: “I’m sorry, Captain. This is something I have to do. I owe her a great debt.”

The Pelican launches, as Lasky and Palmer are too late to stop it. It flies out, and John initializes the warp drive and takes off. He pulls out Cortana’s data chip, and looks at it.

John: “Just wait. I’m coming for you. I’ll find him, and then I’ll know how to find you.”

As ship charges into the distance, scene fades to black, and game title appears on screen.

Halo: Reclamation

The title was just something I came up with, don’t like the sound of Halo 5 or Halo: Xbox One.

Starts on Earth, just after New Phoenix has been Composed (after Halo 4). Master Chief talks with Lord Hood on a UNSC station (like Cairo) with the camera looking to several locations of the city (just like Halo 4’s ending scene). Then, Lord Hood asks:

LH: Master Chief, where is Cortana?
MC: She’s gone.
LH: What are going to do?
MC: I’m going for her.

Fades to black… Title enters with the classic Halo theme: Halo 5

Suddenly we’re in a cutscene of the new Spartans fighting Covies on the Halo Gamma (Installation 03), like a flashback trying to explain some loose ends of Halo 4. Then, the Spartans take the Index of the installation and find the Composer itself. Lord Hood starts to explain all of this to the Chief, like updating him. Then, the Chief asks about the truce with the Covenant. Another flashback occurs: we can see the Elite civil war and Jul 'Mdama leading the neo-Covenant. Then, Requiem and all the Forerunner conflict is explained with more detail.

That’s about all I can think right now. I think 343i should make something like this for the next game, because there are many things I don’t understand (like the humanity overpower). At least in the intro scene.

Screen lights up.

Screen is dimly lit, with a bright light in the face of the player; the player is in first person view without the HUD, due to Master Chief not having his armor on

April 18th, 2558; Earth, ONI Facility Bravo-Six, 1600 Hours

Serin Osman: John you have been out of the field, for a while… much has change in the past four years… with the re-unification of the Covenant, the new threat we faced from Requiem… and now what you have told us about the Librarians foresight, of the Flood.

Terrance Hood: Having had the most experience with the Flood, we need you to reunify Humanity, at its most dire hour… so for now, you will rest.

Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 befalls into cryogenic stasis…

Serin Osman: He is not meant to feel, or be broken… Spartans were always resolute against the Covenant Empire. He has always been the best of them… but now…

Terrance Hood: Now… he is Human… which is more than I can say for you Serin. You’re beginning to become her…

Screen darkens… the screen lights up with the edges blurry and distorted. You are John-117 again inside his cryogenic statis dream

Ur-Didact: Are we not remanded of any re-sanction of our people… Devoid of any renewal? I ask you now, even in your atonement and my hibernation… Wisdom was fleeting.

Mendicant Bias: Time… Time and Unity is what the Flood deliver… yet the Reclaimers… Humanity… stand at the forefront of the ensuing Tsunami! Our time is over…

Ur-Didact: I choose not to believe such rash decisions of a depressed and misguided construct… Forerunners were always meant to carry the Mantle.

Mendicant Bias: Choose to or choose to not… No matter your in-ability to seek the truth… Humanity is beyond Forerunners. Time… Time will show you…

Ur-Didact: My only consolation in this conversation, is knowing that the Flood are coming for Humanity… yet their is something unsettling about the prophecy. The Primordial once told me that a cure never existed, that Humanity were spared by choice, and not by any synthetically means…

Mendicant Bias: No known cure has been found… yet hope remains. Is there anything else Didact?

Ur-Didact: Yes I need a vessel of interstellar purpose to reach my lost people…

Mendicant Bias: There is vessels docked beneath the surface of the Ark… Yet Didact the only known survivors after the Halo event, was the Didact and the Lifeshaper. They most likely would have been assimilated into the fold… although they were a small band, so they may have been ignorable to the collectives goal. Location unknown?

Ur-Didact: Very well… I shall depart.

Cortana: John! Wake Up John! I Need You! John!!!

John wakes up from cryogenic stasis. In first-person vision Cortana appears in front of John… as a life sized AI. John hops out of his cryo-pod

Cortana: John… quickly follow me…

John: Wait… Cortana. How are you here?

Cortana: Don’t be silly I’ve always been with you… two corpses in one grave.

John: Two corpses? What? Cortana wait…

Cortana: John… follow me…

Cortana fades as she dissipates into the air

Cortana: Don’t make a girl a promise if you know YOU CAN’T KEEP IT!!!

Gravemind: (bellows) HHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! A hero’s unrest has finally come… to face the prophecy of the creators son. A mantle that is empty… creates a soul without plenty.

Screen goes from first-person to panoramic view, showing John (back of head, no armor just military clothing) looking out at a Flood invasion of Sydney… with writing lit up in the sky in flames…

It reads HALO 5

Screen fades to black.

The scene sequence opens up in the desert on a alien planet, he finds an hidden artifact burried down , he pulls up the artifact and starts to run while new assasin promethean classes hunts him and suddenly infnity closes into chiefs position and the Halo title shows up.

Just wanted to point out that a NOVA Bomb would render Earth uninhabitable. The surface nearest the explosion would be scorched beyond imagining, and the tidal forces and radiation will sweep across the rest of the planet.
Depending on where the moon is in orbit, it could also be shattered.

That is a massive impact to set up at the start. But if that’s what you’re going for, then that is a very shocking way to grab the players’ attention in the first few moments.

I’ll be writing mine up in a few minutes…

(Takes place on a debris field in a Desert region surrounded by illuminated towers, and a shot-down ONI Prowler transport)

Intro + Musical Score: Tides of War

Radio: This is the Infinity to Dark Horse, and we’re in a desperate firefight and need you to return immediately. Sierra do you understand. Sierra return to Infinity stat… We’re losing this battle.

-Pained groans are heard with a low, whispering gurgle, the remains of an ONI prowler is cascaded in the violent sandstorm, slowly tearing at what is left-

Radio: Science comes last if you want to live, we need assistance- Casualties at… audio cuts off

-Cinematic progressing down the bridge of the UNSC Dark Horse, several bodies are scattered down adjacent corridors-

Familiar Voice (Female): Luck? What is luck? Luck shoots across the wide horizons at the blink of an eye- a star. Your star. I will protect you and what innocence remain. As your creator, mother, guardian angel.

John: -Weakened Twitches, head rocking left to right-

-The Storm worsens and Dark Horse’s radio tower collapses due to the wreck rendering it unstable.

Radio: …Radio-in, your signal is… static

-John begins to wake up as flashbacks of Blue Team, Cortana, and Halsey overhwelms. An increasingly erratic heartbeat persists as memories of the Flood enter the aging Spartans closing nightmares.-

John: -Sits up rigidly, whispering in a haunting voice- I understand.

-He approaches a command deck interface zoning out towards the outside, sand torrents making it practically invisible from the inside out-

John: -Taps into the com- Sierra 117 to Infinity, anyone, anyone read me.

-A rumble is heard from the distance within the Dark Horse. A faint blue light repeatedly shines through a malfunctioning security door; Sentinels-

-John eliminates at least a swarm of seventy-seven Sentinels throughout the engineering and quarters deck, where he retrieved a worn tent cloth, also stumbling upon a shielded emergency detonator separated from its safe.-

Female Voice, Cortana-Similar Sequence: I remember waking up… Like you, on the Autumn… It’s been too long, Chief, please wake up…

Child’s Whisper: Swarm.

PROLOGUE
Unknown Location
September, 2557

Standing on a single pedestal surrounded by rings of hardlight, in the center of an enormous citadel with dozens of Forerunners surrounding it, is the defeated Warrior-Servant known to many as the UR-DIDACT. From a high seat within the crowd, a voice that sounds significantly younger than the Didact emits from a Forerunner wearing less ornate armor studded with lines of blue hardlight.

IsoDidact:

You stand accused of crimes against the Mantle and yet you continue to disregard the gravity of your sins.

The Ur-Didact rises from the floor of the pedestal, and speaks. His voice booms and echoes through the citadel.

Ur-Didact

In this hour of victory, we taste only defeat.

I ask why.

IsoDidact

The only one that was defeated was you, warrior.

Ur-Didact:

We are Forerunners, guardians of all that exists.

The camera fades into a view of Earth, it’s atmosphere is dotted in space junk and shrouded in five hundred years of pollution.

IsoDidact

We are only guardians of our absolution, nothing more. The Mantle is no longer ours to keep, but it will always be ours to remember. And you’ve just given the Milky Way a decade’s worth of war when it should be –

The Ur-Didact interrupts him,

Ur-Didact

The roots of the galaxy have grown deep under our careful tending.

The camera now fades to a war-torn city in Sangheilios that is swallowed in the shadow of a Forerunner structure as a skirmish between a Covenant Remnant faction and a militia made of the city’s residents tears through the streets. Women and children are shredded in the cross fire as mortars of plasma and needles leap towards their target.
A few of the Sangheili militia hold banners that display a glyph that appears on the Forerunner structure.
The camera focuses on the banner before fading to a CAS-Class Assault Carrier lurking near the ruins of Ivanoff Station. Phantoms, Liches, and a few CRS-Class Light Cruisers burp from its hull like bees swarming from their hive.

Ur-Didact

Where there is life, the wisdom of our countless generations has saturated the soil. Our strength is a luminous sun, towards which all intelligence blossoms!

And the impervious shelter, beneath which, it has prospered.

The view returns back to the Forerunner citadel, and a female Lifeworker, wearing ornate armor that indicates the title of Lifeshaper, stands on a flotation device and floats towards the Ur-Didact’s pedestal.

Chant-To-Green

Because of your follies, humanity will no longer be able to choose the correct path. They will soon share our fate!

The Ur-Didact’s expression morphs into pure hatred and anger. His bestial eyes narrow.

Ur-Didact

Humanity stands as the greatest threat in the galaxy. Refusing to eradicate them is a fools gambit!

The camera now cuts to the interior of a sprawling ONI facility. Inside of it, Vice Admiral SERIN OSMAN smiles sinisterly as Terrence Hood is surrounded by Spartan IV’s wearing the PREFECT armor with their weapons raised at his head.
Several Huragok are also at the scene.

Ur-Didact

We squander eons in the darkness while they seize our triumphs for their own!

The Mantle of Responsibility, for all things, belongs to Forerunners…

The Spartans fire their weapons.
Hood’s lifeless body slumps to the black tiled floor, a red flower blooming around him.

Ur-Didact:

…Alone

In that same facility, the camera now fades to a darkened room with hundreds of cryotubes, shrouded in an icy mist that hides the individuals inside of them.

Ur-Didact

Think of my acts as you will, but do not doubt the reality.

The camera zooms onto one of the cryotubes. It has the number “117” engraved on it.

Ur-Didact

The Reclamation has already begun…

Steam starts to emit from the tube, and the form of the Master Chief, still wearing his modified Mark VI armor, slowly becomes visible.

Ur-Didact

And we are hopeless to stop it.

It opens.
