Create a Vehicle for Halo 4!

Hi there,Silver Sol lurking about. I’ve seen alot of threads about iconic vehicles returning in Halo 4,while possible, there wouldn’t be a constant supply of them, therefore we would need to resort to using perhaps Forerunner designed vehicles. Perhaps merging UNSC technology with Forerunner to create new vehicles! I myself haven’t thought of one,and I’m looking to you,the community,to see what you can come up with. Although there has to be a few exceptions.
Also, check out x Unholyshade x’s threads for ideas-
Create a New Warthog Variant
Create a New Covenant Air Vehicle

1: It must have a weakness-The vehicles you design cannot be made indestructible, for if these were placed in Halo 4 MM, it would grossly be overpowered against the opposing team if one had control of it. Give it a weakness, such as an open vent or a glass cover, making the opponent exposed Eg. The cooler on the back of the Wraith is prone to taking severe damage if it’s core is constantly shot.It takes a single sniper round to wreck a Ghost if shot in its reactor tank. (Yes,that weakness has been brought back)

2: If it has weapons/armour,be practical-While we would all like to make a completely epic Anti-S.O.B machine, the weaponry cannot be super powerful. Giant targeting lasers that are capable of shooting behind you with no targeting needed is overpowered. If it’s heavy weaponry with a lot of armour that your implying, give it a disadvantage, such as making it slow to fire and/or move. If it’s light weaponry, make it quick, but give it little to no armour protection.

3: Give it a purpose-What was it designed for? Recon? Heavy armour ordnance? transport? You decide, just don’t make it outlandish and/or over imaginative. That can instantly kill a good idea.

4: This is not a suggestion for returning vehicles- I would prefer to see people try and come up with their own ideas for a new creation rather than want to bring back old vehicles. Remember, It can be anything you want it to be

Suitable Names
The following names can be used as a name for your creation. Whoever comes up with the best vehicle for the name goes into my Notable Creations. You do not need to actually use these, the names are only suggestions to help get you started.

Yūrei
Reaper
Dutchman
Gecko
Gharial
And so on.

Notable Creations
A well-sounding creation that I like the taste of,along with given a breif description and purpose, will be shown here. As with all of the Halo vehicles, perhaps have them named after certain themes. The UNSC were a mix of land mammals, birds and insects, and the Covenant would be from popular spirits from ghost stories. My preferance for new ones would perhaps be mythical creatures of extreme power. Their names would be fitting as the merging of UNSC and Forerunner tech would create in fairly strong vehicles. Hope to hear your ideas!

> HAV-7 Tortoise
>
> The HAV-7 (Heavy Attack Vehicle), nicknamed Tortoise, is a small, single-occupant attack vehicle designed to provide fire support in a multitude of combat situations. Due to its small size it can provide fire support to troops in locations where larger ground vehicles such as the Scorpion tank cannot go.
>
> Despite its rather small size, the HAV-7 is heavily armored and capable of withstanding even a direct hit from a Covenant Wraith’s mortar. This heavy armor comes at a price, however, for the HAV-7 is one of the slowest ground vehicles in use by the UNSC; hence it’s nickname “Tortoise”. Thanks to its treats similar yet only smaller to those used by tanks, rough terrain and elevation aren’t a problem. But it has often been said that a quick Marine could probably outrun the LAV-7 if in a hurry.
>
> Armed with an M68 Gauss cannon, the Tortoise can take out even heavy Covenant vehicles with only a few hits. Due to the vehicle’s heavy armor, however, and to protect the cannon’s firing mechanism, the pilots are limited to firing at targets in a 180° angle in front of them.
>
> The Tortoise is, and always has been, a vehicle not often seen on the battlefield. When faced with the decision to bring in the Tortoise or a larger and admittedly more powerful Scorpion tank, most commanders favor the latter.

Apparition- Lehnaru

> The Covenant Apparition is a single-occupant vehicle that resembles a midnight blue Ghost without wings. It has a concealed reactor tank, and a completely encased pilot seat. Like the Ghost, the Apparition is armed with two plasma cannons. It also has unlimited boosting capabilities, but rather poor armor. Its top speed is faster than any known Covenant ground vehicle, and is doubled while boosting.
>
> The Apparition’s single, high-powered, but silent booster is located at the rear of the vehicle. Its sleek design is meant for speed and stealth. The Apparition is affiliated with the Covenant Special Operations and is used almost exclusively by Elites. It serves for land-based reconnaissance, quick infiltration, scouting, etc. It is extremely versatile and can perform in very difficult terrain; for example, it can climb very steep inclines. Perhaps the Apparition’s greatest asset it its ability to engage Active Camouflage indefinitely. However, at higher speeds, the Camouflage is rendered increasingly ineffective and while firing the plasma cannons or boosting, it is useless.
>
> The Apparition has been nicknamed the Blue Blaze of Death, or simply Blaze of Death or Blue Blaze due to its speed, stealth, blue color, and the blue light it emits and blue plasma it vents while damaged, malfunctioning, or overheating. This can occur even while the vehicle is cloaked, which can be a disadvantage for the pilot.

Widow- DHG Silver Sol

> Purpose/Size
> The Type-16 Light Assault Platform, also known as the Widow. Originally intended as an excavation tool, much like the Scarab from Halo 2,the Widow is a two-man operable vehicle. It is much smaller than the Scarab, around the size of a Revenant while crouching.
>
> Weaponry
> It’s excavation beam has been modified into an Assault cannon seen on many Hunters, and is also equipped with dual plasma cannons seen on Ghosts. It stands on six legs, with black tinted plating. It’s red assault cannon is placed on the top back, behind the pilot’s seat-giving it the name ‘Widow’ as it resembles the dangerous spider encountered on subtropical regions of Earth. The pilot’s seat is placed at the front of the ‘Abdomen’ while the gunner seat is in the ‘Sternum’ behind the dual plasma cannons. The assault cannon fires a steady beam of blue plasma that ignites anything it touches on fire for three-to-six seconds, although it is automatic and requires a lock on,it also has a battery usage of three-to-four shots each. The Widow also locks down when firing, leaving it vunerable unless the gunner seat is occuipied. The gunner is also dependant on the driver,as the plasma cannons can only fire straight ahead, therefore the gunner has to let the driver know where there is a target so he can shoot it.
>
> Defense/Movement
> The top of the Widow is covered by incredibly hard plating,it can even withstand a direct shot from a Spartan Laser, giving protection to the Gunner and Pilot, although this slows it down severly. The underside is also completely exposed which makes it suspectible to explosives, though the distance from it’s underside to the ground is about two feet. It is also prone to being boarded from behind due to it’s slow speed,it can however, turn around at an explicibally fast speed, often surprising would be attackers…It stands at about eight-to-nine feet at full height, giving it around roughly the same height as a Wraith. It moves by a mix of bi-pedal and quadra-pedal movement, much like the Locust. However it’s movement speed is less than half of a Wraith’s normal pace.

Elephant, weakness: slow
Sparrow hawk, weakness: some random AA gun/Spartan lasor

Dáinsleif-Whicker

> Accessing ONI Library of Alexandria Mainframe…
>
> Project Dáinsleif
>
> Scorpion Sized Vehicle
>
> This newly founded project would re-design the scorpion as a new creation of carnage. Unable to move while charging the cannon, this beast launches a modified tank shell to be filled with explosive shrapnel and radioactive waste. Such as the name describes, once this vehicle has begun to fire, it cannon be stopped at high risk of radiation leakage. The Dáinsleif’s special explosive shells are armed to begin the explosive timer and once shot, the blast will affect a large radius irratiating everything within with shrapnel flying an even larger radius. This vehicle is not meant for close combat and is only to be used from distances. The vehicle takes 3 well trained soldiers to drive as they need to be wearing biohazard suits as after each shot, there will be slight remnants of the toxic volley. The Dáinsleif requires one driver, one person to launch the radioactive shrapnel volley and one target designator. The driver must select a position effective for the launcher to have maximum effeciency. The driver will engage 4 anchors from the corners of the vehicle to hold it in place. The target designator will pain the target are with a target designator beam as the launcher cannot see long distances. With the target selected, the launcher will shoot the volley at the colored circle to cause maximum damage.
>
>
> Strengths:
> Stronger than a scorpion.
> Longer Range.
> Accurate to a certain degree.
> Location of volley impact will damage any enemies entering or leaving area for a medium amount of time.
> Shrapnel will take out the shields of anyone within the range while the those within the target area specifically will die.
> The target designator has scoping ability.
>
>
> Weaknesses:
> Requires 3 man team.
> Vehicle crew is highly vulnerable.
> Vehicle cannot move during the cannon shot.
> Shots cannon be aborted without heavily injuring the entire crew.
> Cannot shoot anywhere in a close proximity.
> The vehicle is extremely slow moving. (slightly slower than a tank)
> The launcher himself cannot aim distances without help. (The distance the launcher can see is heavily reduced)
>
>
> The Dáinsleif was created for large scale carnage attacks in locations air support of any kind was impossible.
>
> The Dáinsleif has legs engaged by the driver to support against the recoil of the cannon. Their is a mounted target designator for the aimer of the vehicle. The launcher can rotate 180* but the target designator can only see from one side of the cannon and cannot aim for locations on the other side of the large cannon. The cannon however is able to turn after the target has been paineted with the laser. So for best range, the cannon is often turned to the left to give the target designator higher accuracy and range.
>
> I have done a picture in paint. The half circles do not represent distance but degree of rotation.

You mean like reverse-engineering with forerunner tech? That’s what the Covenant does.

How about something that is the same size as the Banshee that fires a powerful sentinel beam that leaves a trail of blue flame on the ground

Note - naming for Forerunner vehicles is based on Sentinel naming.

Forerunner Excavator

Armaments: Two rods on the front that generate electricity (EMP damage, to neutralize Flood controlled vehicles) and can be charged to shoot an energy pulse (like the towers on Valhalla), a mortar (campaign only), and an AI controlled claw (campaign only)

Here’s where I got the inspiration from:

http://www.blackdiamondx.com/images/Excavator1.jpg

Advantages: Can turn like the Scorpion, moves like the Wraith (it has anti gravity like Covenant vehicles rather than treads), can reach the minimum speed required for splatter, pulse is very powerful, fast charging rate
Disadvantages: Quite big, slow turning speed, short range (the charged energy pulse), claw can be rendered unusable, no boost, electricity is non fatal to non machines
Purpose: A forerunner excavator vehicle refitted for combat with the Flood.

UNSC Mantis

Armaments: 2 missile racks (3 missiles per rack), huge wheel (like the Chopper, only bigger and instead of splatter, it runs over), 2 aa (anti-air) cannons (1 per side) attached like the autocannons on the chopper (campaign only), the tibia is flexible and can be used to melee (press B) enemies towards the wheel (campaign only) or send them flying (like a Hunter’s melee) it depends on when the enemy comes in contact with it

Kinda looks like this:

http://www.auctiontime.com/OnlineAuctions/Details.aspx?OHID=7876533&lp=mat

Advantages: fast, giant wheel of death, large hitbox, powerful missiles, aa cannons, melee weapon
Disadvantages: missiles don’t home and have spread like CE’s Rocket Warthog, slow recharge time for missiles, has treads, damaging the treads slows down the vehicles, big size, area around driver’s seat is vulnerable, driver can be sniped
Purpose: Destruction.

I want an RV, for spartans to chilax while cruising the highways but in case of an emergency, there would be a huge machine gun on the back!

> You mean like reverse-engineering with forerunner tech? That’s what the Covenant does.

I know. But the Covenant came to depend on Plasma weaponry/ Anti-grav/Propulsion systems. I don’t want that happening with the UNSC. Instead of creating plasma weaponry, why not use the crystal technology? Such as the one crystal used to bend time and space, allowing them to get to the Eridanus system in a few minutes instead of several days. during Halo: First Strike.

Not like making them time-travelling,but more like perhaps on offensive/defensive material, such as reinforcing the steel in Vehicles, making them more resistant to damage and/or lining them in weapon ballistics to reinforce penetration into surfaces.

You mean like an artificial supernova? The Forerunners did have that technology. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Supernova

There just happens to be a Gauss Warthog and mass driver which uses a smaller version of the mac cannon so how about a vehicle that has a miniature artificial supernova?

If there is something like that I would probably only see it in Campaign because of the sheer power of Supernovas. Wouldn’t mind seeing a few multiplayer types in now,get crackin’ people!

> Creations

I want to see a unicorn in the next game!

It ain’t Forerunner but it’s this simple. A BOAT. It can be like a warthog with the turret at the front two passenger seats on the sides and the driver in the back. Make it as hard to stand on as a falcon or harder to not be cheap. Imagine 20 spartans riding that thing. It would be funny but complete -BLAM-.

UNSC Cutlass- A fast, agile fighter, designed to protect Shortswords and other various bombers on their missions.
Weapons- Heat-seeking missiles, only able to lock onto air targets. M41 LAAG, only able to fire so long before overheating.
Weaknesses- Prone to stalling if air speed drops too low, has thin armor, can be destroyed with just a few small arms rounds to the engines, and high speeds make aiming at ground or slow moving targets difficult

And that’s all I’ve got for now. May come up with some more later.

Katana:
A fast, extremely mobile aircraft with very light armour.
Fitted with an anti-gravity generator for minimum fuel consumption, four nose mounted machineguns, and a gauss cannon on the back for a co pilot to operate. This vehicle is expirimental and has only been deployed in the human-covenant war once, and came home to the frigate. It’s purpose was reconasance and dog fighting support.

EDIT #1:

The Covenant Apparition resembles a Ghost with clipped wings and a concealed reactor tank. It has a completely encased pilot seat/cockpit. The Apparition is midnight blue and has twin plasma cannons. It has poor armor, but its top speed is twice as fast as the Ghost’s; its sleek design is meant for speed and stealth. It is a Special Operations vehicle which serves for land-based recon, quick infiltration, assassinations, etc. It can climb steep inclines and it can perform underwater. Perhaps the Apparition’s greatest asset it its ability to engage Active Camouflage indefinitely. However, at top speed, while firing the plasma cannons, or underwater, the Camouflage is rendered increasingly ineffective and useless.

These are very good. Lehnaru, Apparition is a brilliant name, but perhaps you could do a little work on it.If it can be used to traverse underwater, where would the oxygen supplies be? Covering the reactor tank is a good idea if it has little armour as possible, just root out it’s weakest point and defend it.I love the way you two kept to the themes of UNSC/Covenant naming types. These are going in my second post.

Hmm, maybe I should scrap the underwater idea; it seemed a bit ridiculous when I wrote it. I got the name from Macbeth, incidentally.

Yeah,it could use a bit of work. If your intending to have the wings clipped, how would the Apparition boost ? How about this, you keep the wings, keep the pilot cover, but give it as little protection as possible. Since it can be active-camo’d indefinately, except for boosting and firing the plasma cannons,I doubt it would need much protection if it cannot be seen.
