Create a new gametype for Halo 4

When it comes to the first person shooter genre, no game has as many options as Halo. While some games may offer 5 or 6 gamemodes like Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag. Halo has so much more.

It has all your standards.

Slayer ( TDM)
CTF
Territories
and Assault

but it also has so much more that other games do not.

Modes like
Headhunter
Infection
Race

Are things no other FPS really has.

Every Halo game has introduced at least one new gametype. Reach introduced 3 ( Stockpile, Headhunter, Invasion)

This is a community thread dedicated to thinking up and sharing new gametypes that could be possible in Halo 4.
Please note that this is a " gametype " thread. Not game variant.

slayer is a gametype.

Team Snipers is a game variant of slayer.

Try not to post ideas that can be accomplished with preexisting gametypes.

everyone spawns with lasers and jetpacks is not a gametype, it is a variant.

Please post!

I would like to see gametypes like Search and Destroy or Headquarters from CoD.

You can already make search and destroy. Set it to one life, and make it the one bomb variant.

> You can already make search and destroy. Set it to one life, and make it the one bomb variant.

But it has yet to be implemented into playlists. We did that a lot in custom games in Halo 2. Anyways I don’t know where I was going with that.

I do want new ways to play and I think it would be cool to implement larger battles. Maybe focus more on smaller squads like multi team 8v8v8v8. I think that would be cool.

Honestly I would like a few new gametypes in firefight.

One would be firefight but with a boss at the end of the wave. So depending on the map the bigger and better the boss.

So you could go from fighting a duel wielding elite to a scarab.

Also I would like to have one firefight map that you could forge so you can build your own bases and areas and reall spice up firefight.

Finally I would like a new game mode with firefight that is similar to zombies.

Basically you start out and lets say the flood come through the walls and floor and celling.
You start with a pistol and each kill you get you gain in game credits which will allow you to open a new part of the map.
At each part of the map that you buy there is a small new UNSC or Covey base which you can go in and buy two or three guns with maybe one AA at each station for a lot of credits, the better the gun the more it is, so for example an AR isn’t any where as much as a Fuel Rod Gun, or Flame Thrower.

Also for one camp on the map I would like it so you could activate sentinials that attack the flood until they get destroyed.
This would be the best item in the game, but would cost a very high amount of credits, So it wouldn’t be easy to get buy well worth the credits.
Yes I know this resemble a lot like zombies, but 343i could spice it up more and make it more unique and also face it zombies is fun, I mean its the only thing I have ever enjoyed about Call of Duty.

i listed some new ones

It’s called Very Important Spartan…

It’s VIP…You know…From Halo 3.

this one

Neutral Bomb VIP.

Bomb in the middle, plant the bomb on the other team’s VIP.

But hell, this may already be possible with Reach.

My first idea is more of an combination of invasion slayer and stockpile. Instead of capturing hills, you have to carry weapon crates to your stockpile (they would basically be reskinned Cores) and then you can open them for the goodies (weapons) inside.

Another idea I have is called Score Battle. This would be a variant of Firefight. There are two teams of two, and they are trying to kill as many Covenant as they can in order to score more points than the other team. Each team has thier own pool of lives.

My last idea is called Heretics. It’s like a two sided Firefight. Two players (Elites) on two teams. One team is the covenant and one team is the heretics. Grunts and Jackals will keep spawning at each side and meet at the middle of the map. The Elite players have to kill the infantry and push upwards to the enemy base. In the base there is a flag, but only a grunt can grab the flag. The players havve to escort at leats one grunt to the base to grab it, then escort him back along the same path backwards. If the grunt dies the elites can get another to grab i an return it to their base or capture it, depending on whose flag it is. As the Elites kill enemies they score points which can be used to buy vehicles, weapons, and stronger AI (hunters, brutes, ect.). In custom games, you can change the settings on Elites base player traits, what types of enemies spawn (all hunters, maybe? 8D) and what things the elites can purchase with thier points.

Also bring back Generator Defense and VIP.

If you don’t understand this, I forgot to mention it’s based on Defense of the Ancients from Warcraft III and Monday Night Combat’s crossfire mode. That should help people understand what I mean.

lolno… headhunter and stockpile was a fail… infection and elimnation for life tho

Predators (has nothing to do with the Predator movies)

Two teams, red (Predators) and blue (Preys). It’s a two-round game like Invasion; roles are switched after the first round so everyone gets to play as Predator and Prey once. It’s basically like Zombies / Living Dead, but with three major differences

  1. Predators are extremely hard to kill.
  2. Preys move way faster than Predators.
  3. The number of Predators and Preys is equal, and killed Preys don’t turn into Predators.

The game setup would be like this:

  • Predators have sniper rifles and rocket launchers with normal amounts of ammo, i.e. 12 rounds for the rifle and 4 rockets total; Preys have magnums and shotguns with unlimited ammo.

  • Weapon pickups are disabled.

  • Predators have 3x overshields, Preys have no shields; both inflict 100% damage with their weapons.

  • Predators move at 75% speed, Preys at 125%; gravity/jump height is normal for both.

  • Predators have active camo with unlimited usage (so it can stay on indefinitely), Preys have evade with normal usage; scrap that if there aren’t armor abilities in H4.

  • All players have unlimited lives like in Team Slayer.

The goal for the Predators is to kill as many Preys as possible before the 5-minute time limited runs out; they get one point for each Prey killed. While Preys also get points for killing Predators, it’s rather unlikely that they will succeed at that. Winning team is - of course - the one with the higher score after two rounds.

Can be played with 4 - 6 people per team on medium-sized to large maps where it’s possible for the Preys to temporarily seek shelter in certain locations until these spots become too dangerous (Predators have rocket launchers, after all), and to simply outrun the Predators while using cover.

Maps such as Boneyard, Hemorrhage, or Breakpoint work very well for this gametype. The layout of these maps allows the Predators to gradually herd together the Preys if they work as a team.

Alright so here is what i was thinkin you basicly take the star wars battlefront game and make a few adjustment for it to be compatable in halo for this you would probably want a whole new set of maps for the game type because there would have to be AI programing and it would have to accomidate alot of players but i think it would be worth it because that is all you did in too very succesful games personaly the battlefront games were some of my favorites

I really hope 343 does not do what bungie did and take new game types that they make out of MM. Bungie tool out generator defense, vs firefight and I think there were more that were all fun. Pleas 343 if you make a new game type I would like to actually play it.

  • Ghostbusters:
One player is the ghost with active camo (does not fade when moving) and a plasma pistol.
The objective is to kill the ghost.
The ghost can pick up weapons from fallen enemys.
You have unlimited lives (Except for ghost).
The ghost can play pranks or tricks with his plasma pistol by overcharging, making you look like a green floating ball.
Ghostbusters start with shotguns and pistols.

What do you think?

I think their should be a new firefight gametype related to Shforteenteen14’s heretic, but instead of a flag, or anything, you will have to penatrate waves of marines to odst’s and when you finish, you have to battle a spartan >:)

How’s this:

Two teams trying to kill each other, but one person on each team is actually sided with the opposite one. After 3 minutes or so, this undercover Spartan can begin working against his team. It would take big maps, and smart players.

It’s an old paintball game.
