Create a boss battle

<mark>Thank you for participating everyone! It’s been fun! :D</mark>

After looking at one of the topics here, it got me wondering. If boss battles do come back, what sort of boss would you like to see? Then I thought again.

Why not ask the community?

So, what sort of boss battle would you like to see in the next Halo games? Describe the kind of boss you’d like, and what they’d do!

I’ll start.

A Forerunner-type boss. Well, technically it’s three-in-one. They are bipedal. They also have a anti-gravity platform each, so they can move swiftly through the air. They move quite gracefully, but their strength and agility vary.
First, the ‘Berserker’. Tall, strong and has the colour code of red. It’s the main attacker of the three. Sentinel beam-like attack for ‘discouraging’ enemies. Has hardlight blade like Promethean Knights. Ranged to close-quarters fighter. Has medium health, and is the strongest of the three. It has medium speed.
Secondly, the ‘Defender’. It’s the largest, and is fully armoured. It’s colour code would be gold. It has a hardlight shield which it uses to defend itself, and will defend the other two when they are in mortal danger. Hardlight shield works like a stronger version of Jackal shield. When broken, will take a while to recharge. Has energy spear like weapon, for countering after being attacked. Close-quarters fighter, but weaker attack than the Berserker. Has most health, and has medium strength. It has the slowest speed.
Finally, the ‘Medic’. Slightly smaller than the Berserker and slimmer too. Its colour code would be blue. This unit will take pot-shots at you, but its main objective will be to restore the health of the others, and even attempt to revive them to half their full health if they are ‘killed’. Slow regeneration to own health over time. Ranged fighter. Has least health, and has weakest strength, but continually regenerating own health and others. It has the highest speed.
These Forerunner AI come as a trio, and would work together. For example, if the Medic was in danger of being destroyed, the Defender would quickly come to its aid and shield it from further attacks.
They would be fought in a large room with tall pillars going through it, which would give cover to both them and yourself.

These don’t actually exist in the Halo universe, but it’s just an example after all.

Now it’s your turn. What kind of boss would you like? Doesn’t even have to be a ‘boss’, so to speak. It could be a large fire-fight where the objective is to protect and deliver some sort of VIP, or something.

Your imagination’s the limit!

Some type of Elite, maybe as good as a mix of a CE zealot and ultra from Reach with really good AI and decked out with forerunner weapons and maybe a combat skin

> Some type of Elite, maybe as good as a mix of a CE zealot and ultra from Reach with really good AI and decked out with forerunner weapons and maybe a combat skin

That sounds cool! I’d hate to fight him on Legendary!

> Some type of Elite, maybe as good as a mix of a CE zealot and ultra from Reach with really good AI and decked out with forerunner weapons and maybe a combat skin

interesting, but the thing with that is, it has no abilities, it is simply a really powerful high health enemy with a good AI, which could mean anything. You need to go a little more in depth.

Good to see you making a thread out of this ‘Chocobo007’

I hope you don’t mind. If you’d rather, I can ask for it to be taken down. It’s just that I wanted to know other peoples ideas for boss battles.

I’ll post my old idea:

Elite Master: This will be a large elite with unique, intimidating armor, maybe have a horn on it, a bit of energy radiation, that sort of stuff, he also dual wields energy swords. He can make short speed bursts every so often and can block about half of the bullets you shoot at him with his energy swords occasionally deflecting them right back at you. He’ll be able to go invisible for a few seconds if he takes too much damage within a few seconds. He should have a deep voice and taunt/intimidate you throughout the fight, he should call you a coward or a failure and such things. Another thing is he’ll need a strong buildup, by that I mean he’ll need to do things before the actual fight that will make you actually want to kill him in the worst ways possible (rip his head off). You’ll also need to have a few encounters with him during cut scenes, like with the Didact.

No, no, I wasn’t being sarcastic or anything, my old thread is dying so I don’t mind if you make your own.

Thanks. As for your idea, I’m really wanting to see that in game now.

Well I’m glad, I’m thinking of more ideas, I’ll be sure to post them soon.

How about:

A Promethean Watcher with heavy shielding… That’s wielding a Binary Rifle with bottomless clip!

Sounds like fun…

This thread already has quite a few good ideas and thoughts regarding boss fights.

What are it’s abilities?
does it fit with the story well, or is just there for gameplay?
is there any buildup to the fight?
Your gonna need to go more in depth with this idea

A repost from a different thread

I’d actually really like to see bosses, but I’m not getting my hopes up… yet.

At the very least I’d like to see an upgraded Scarab. (Maybe a Harvester)

The Scarab would be a much better enemy if it moved around a little more and required two legs to be taken down for it to be temporarily immobile.

As for Harvesters, they would attack and move similar to a Scarab. Harvesters have six legs i believe, so you would have to weaken 3 of them to temporarily immobilize it. Now, this nest idea would reqiure a bit of redesigning from the interior of the Harvester in Spartan Ops.

The Harvester being somewhat of a super Scarab, would have 2 cores. The cores would be seperate from each other, and in seperate rooms altogether. Forcing to player to go back outside on the Harvester to get to the second core. Now, unlike the Scarab, The Harvester wouls throw you off when it starts moving again. And because you are forced to go back outside to get to core number 2, you are essentially forced off the Harvester. After core 1 is gone, The harvester will get back up, and you will have to now damage two more undamaged legs, or further damage two of the 3 you damaged already. You cause the Harvester to lower again, you climb on and destroy core 2. Harvesters have a bigger blast than a Scarab to you’ll have to double time it in order to get to safety.

So, now to summerize the Harvester “boss”. First you damage 3 legs. Then it lowers to the ground. You climb on and get inside to the first core. Destroy it. Harvester gets hack up in response. You have to go back outside to get to the second core room, but since the Harvester is moving, you will ALWAYS be thrown off. Damage 2 more legs, or further damage the first 3 you injured to get it to lower again. Drop pods will fall near the Harvester to divert your attention from it. Kill or don.t kill the enemys, your choice. Climg into the Harvester, get to the second core and destroy it. Enemy Elites in the are of the Harvester will run away, expecting the blast. Lower ranked Covenant will not flee and be destroyed by the blast. Take note that after damaging the Harvester and lowering it to the ground, a group of engineers will fly out and attempt to repair the legs. If not destroyed, then they will get the Harvetser’s legs back to near full health and it will get up before you destroy a core.

Good idea? Bad idea? I think upgraded Scarabs/Harvesters are the only bosses we need and the only ones currently within our grasp at the moment. Forerunner “scarabs” would be cool though.

Giant Moa Boss Battle

Jul Mdama. I just see it coming!!

There are some good ideas on there. I just wanted to expand on those ideas and ask what kind of bosses people want. I hope both that thread and mine can run at the same time.

Oh, and brilliant idea about the Harvester. That would be an epic battle.

I personally prefer mini bosses. Like the original Elite Zealot from Halo CE, and the scarab. I hate when the player comes across a room (like Delta Halo’s Control Room) with multiple floating platforms and a supercharged enemy that’s not even supposed to have energy shields suddenly has them. It takes me out of the game and makes it feel arcad-y. I don’t like that.
But like I said, I like the scarab battles in Halo 3. If fighting a seeker/war sphinx is in the cards, I would like to see it play out like a flying scarab. Maybe hitting a HardLight access hatch, jumping inside from your falcon/hornet. Fighting a few Promethean’s inside and then taking a short grav-lift into the “head” where you can yank out the A.I core and shoot it.
But then, you see a massive army of Covenant, Prometheans, or Flood, if they are in the game. Now you get to use the seeker and its heavy HardLight cannons to take on Banshees, Phantoms, Sentinels etc.

A highly advanced covenant crusier with promethean tech mission get inside it and destroy its core. it has weapons to compose like the didacts ship by the storm covenant

Imagen it being big as infinity and controlled by jul and prometheans.

I like mini bosses too. It’s not a super enemy, but it’s just enough to keep you in your toes.

That would be awesome for a final mission!
