Crazy weapon timers [POLL]

What’s with the ridiculously fast world ordnance spawns?

343, I first need to give you well deserved props for the new weapon tuning. Halo 4 feels excellent now in terms of load out weapon balance and I couldn’t be happier on that front. I’m also pleased with the new static weapon spawns, no more of that random yoink.

Now, however, the weapon timers are (correct me if I’m wrong) 2 minutes on most or maybe all maps! 2 MINUTES!!! That is just too fast in my opinion. I just played a game of Adrift where there were 4 snipers on the map at one time in slayer pro. I don’t think that should ever happen. It’s making the new sandbox update less noticeable since power weapons are now being used too often in comparison to load out weapons.

I believe this could be fixed by increasing the respawn times to AT LEAST 3 minutes (maybe a little longer…3:30?).

Total agreement.

The weapon and vehicle spawns are insane now. Idk why the hell they messed with the maps bc everthing was fine before.

Now you get a saw/rockets/sniper/splaser/banshee/ghost/mantis/gauss and rocket hogs/etc the entire game cause once you grab somethin it spawns again almost immediately. Its horrible!!!

Yeah, Power Weapons seem to spawn alittle too quick!
Maybe taking it to atleast 3 mins, like you suggested, would be a good idea.

However, one or two of the less-Power Weapons, e.g. Needler, need a small buff.
It often takes a full clip and you only get about 2-3 mags.

I think the power weapon spawns should be toned down a bit especially with ordinance available.

Good point. Yeah, I didn’t even think about POD’s since I only play pro now or throwdown as far as Slayer goes. Infinity Slayer must be even more insane now!

Since Slayer Pro strives (presumably) to provide a more classic Halo experience power weapons should spawn less frequently and loadout weapons should spawn around the map so people can pick up ammo.

The latter is important in my opinion because weapons disappear so quickly when people drop them after getting killed. If you don’t die a lot you can easily run out of ammo.

Currently nine people have voted, and eight of those voted for longer spawn times. This begs the question, how did 343i get it so wrong?

Power weapons shouldn’t spawn less frequently. Personal Ordnance should be completely removed.

I agree with the second part of your post there, but I’m not really discussing personal ordnance in this topic, I’m trying to pretend that atrocity never existed by avoiding Infinity Slayer like the plague :slight_smile:

Power Weapons have always spawned every 3 minutes. If it ain’t broke…

I love how (at least at the time of this post) there isn’t even a troll vote for the top option.

Those timers definitely need an increase.

Exactly, 2 minute timers just flood the map with power weapons.

343 always takes 15 steps backwards for every step forward they take in their TUs. It started in Reach when they added the TU finally but then removed Squad Slayer (only to bring it back as Stupid(Super) Slayer). The weapon tuning: awesome, the weapon spawns timers: not awesome.

When everyone is blaming weapon the spawns frequency, people make it sound like frequency is the actual problem here, not the Personal Ordnance.

Players that don’t play gametypes with Personal Ordnance are pretty well affected by these weird spawns, too. There’s almost always a sniper or overshielded player active somewhere on Adrift when playing Regicide, for example. You could argue that a good player shouldn’t have to worry about those things or should be getting control of those things first, but when the players with the snipers or overshields are just as good and more lucky with their spawning, it’s no walk in the park to adapt to an arena where you have little choice but to get picked right off and hope you’ll have better positioning after you respawn.

Yes, personal ordnance is a big problem with Halo 4 as it adds randomness, discourages map movement, etc., but I’m not discussing that here. The weapons spawn on map too quickly which is the point I’m trying to get across. I hate IS so I never play it anymore which means personal ordnance doesn’t affect me, but weapon spawn timers affect everyone regardless of playlist/gametype.

I agree that 2 minutes would be to frequent even for a game even without Personal Ordnance. I am just reminding people of what the actual problem is here.

Right now it seems like everyone is okay with personal ordnance and that it was the frequent spawn times that created unbalance and poor game-play, not the Ordnance.

Honestly it should be both way less frequent on-map spawns and no PO.
