Oh definitely- it’s really good for learning the names too. I was playing with my older brother yesterday and we were using it to help him to get to grips with his call outs.
Yes because standing still to point out someone across the map flows nicely. But, I guess that’s why they maid the Halo themed elite controller, so you can remap the awfully crap directional buttons.
Holy smokes, everything is an upsell with Infinite!
I really don’t see the difficulty in quickly moving your left thumb down and pressing UP on the D-pad… I guess some people will have trouble with it, but I find it is so incredibly simple to do that I have mastered it fairly quickly and it definitely doesn’t get me killed.
Aim your reticle at the spot/weapon/objective/enemy you want to Mark then press UP. There is no need to completely stop and stand still and you should never be calling out or marking when in combat, it’s useless when the fight is already engaged because the situation could go any which way so marking and calling out isn’t necessary until you are dead or survived the combat.
It’s mostly used before you enter combat. To let your team mates know where you are going, or where you see threats at or useful equipment/weapons/etc.
It tells your teammates that an enemy is there, and they might be able to get to them while they’re weakened.
I’ve actually had times where marking while I’m fighting helped because I was losing.
Sometimes you don’t know you’re going to run into an enemy, and you can’t mark them before you fight.
Also, you know, you often see that in movies and TV series where a dying character tells their allies that the enemy is coming before keeling over.
As things are, you can’t even mark or do anything right before you die either, which isn’t right, but that’s a different topic.
If you know the odds are completely against you in very specific situations, then sure, Mark/Call out, but if you have a chance to survive then choose that.
And that’s where a mic has an advantage, but a lot of players don’t use mics, so marking is acceptable to me.
It’s difficult to know in most battles.
Using a mic can definitely be a lot faster.
I’m thinking of trying to remap zoom to D-Pad Up, Grenade or Equipment to LT, and Mark to LB though, since I don’t use the zoom that often.
My friends without mics use pings, and I use pings in BTB when an enemy is in our base, or near our flag, and I ping almost every single damn sniper camper I see, if I have no way to shoot them back at my range. It’s useful for sure, but I have no reason to be pinging every enemy I see because that’s super annoying for everyone else, and I can usually handle one or two guys on my own. I don’t need to be spamming the left side of the screen over enemies that aren’t even doing anything important. In Slayer, I don’t ping at all. I compete for kills. Pinging is a wasted moment I could be using for shooting.
As for grenades, they’re fine. I can throw 4 grenades and people can survive them just by jumping. They’re not that powerful. Just jump to take less damage. Don’t just stand there by them and eat it.
Yeah, but if you keep running into a group, and you keep losing, that’s not good.
Also, your team might not know where the enemy team is at.
Are you saying they have less effect above them than around them?
So, it’s better to jump than run?
From what I’ve noticed in Oddball anyway, if I jump, I can usually survive both frag grenades thrown at me when I’m taking cover. If I just move away or stand there, I die. I believe the frag dome doesn’t quite reach your 10ft jump if you time it right. It’s also a bit faster to jump 10ft than walk 10ft. Without hitboxes data mined, I can’t really prove that. Plus, this game has dumpster netcode hit registration, so sometimes grenades hit harder or less than they should, due to lag and not being in the same place as the server sees them.
That would be helpful if it works.
Thanks.
Also, yeah, the lag is awful.
