Hi Folks;
I finally completed the Enemies commendation by reaching Master level for both Knight Commanders and Crawler Snipers. You have to kill 900 Crawler Snipers to complete Masters level, and 600 Crawler Snipers for the level before that - that’s an absolutely ridiculous amount - but still not as bad as the Vehicles Master Level for killing Mongooses.
It took about 20+ hours of playing the first ~ 1.65 minutes of Spartan Ops Episode 6, Chapter 5 “Switchback” over and over and over - a serious grind. That Chapter has the best Crawler Sniper and Knight Commander kills for time played ratio that I have found at 1.85 Crawlers Snipers per minute played.
Here are the average enemy kill statistics for Crawler Sniper runs I worked out for playing the first 1.65 minutes of that episode. The number on the right is how many of those ForeRunner enemies I killed for each minute of game play - over the long (45+ minutes per session) haul.
Alpha Crawlers 4.78
Crawlers 3.23
Crawler Snipers 1.85
Watchers 1.23
Knight BattleWagons & Lancers 0.62
Knights 0.62
Each 1.65 minute iteration (start Chapter, play up until after you kill the third group of Crawlers, then restart Chapter) I would kill 3 Crawler Snipers. If the cut scene at the start of the chapter wasn’t there, that would push the ratio to over 2 crawler snipers per minute of game play and shaved 20 seconds off each iteration.
The main trick to speeding this up is to by pass the first two “IFF” tags completely so you do not have to kill the 3 Knights guarding them, which adds 30 to 45 seconds to each run. I also played it on Easy, used an Auto Turret and the Fast reload perk too.
If you play for an extra ~ 1 to 2 minutes after the 3rd group of Crawlers are done, you can also kill 2 Knight Commanders, 3 more Knights and 4 more Crawlers for each iteration, which is how I go the Knight Commander Master achievement too. Once I had that Knight Commander Master achievement, I shortened it up and focussed only on the Crawler Snipers.
I also do not recommend waiting for the Knight(s) to spawn a Watcher, then killing the knight and letting the Watcher resurrect the Knight - which some people have suggested you do. It eats up time per iteration and generally I found maybe one in 4 times the Knight Commander will be resurrected. It isn’t worth the delay that it adds and actually drops your kills per minute of game play much lower than without it.
I recorded a few of my runs and might put together a guide for this on UTube - if people are interested.
HTH…
