In the campaign demo, at around 4:37 you can see that the Crawlers bleed when shot and leave orange blood stains on the jungle floor when killed. Yet Cortana clearly says they are not organic and are defense AI’s… Is there a known explanation for this yet? If not, why do you think they leave blood? Or is it not blood?
It’s probably a fuel source or something.
I’d suppose it’s not actual blood if the Prometheans are robotic. ;D I guess 343 is using that to make the game look a bit dirtier.

Do we know anything about hardlight? We know it can become solid, so I guess it’s reasonable to assume it can become liquid.

I just figured knights use the shield which is made of hardlight, they’re all orangey to so why not?

If it can be used as a fuel source then it would make sense, as all other fuels humans know of would not last thousands of years as these have.
If it’s part machine, something got to keep the mechanical parts lubricated. Otherwise it’ll just go to crap after a while.
I’m assuming it’s some kind of fuel. Maybe the Prometheans have something analogous to a circulatory system, which serves to administrate such a fuel across their bodies?

It would be kind of boring if you shot them and nothing happend. I think they are trying to make them a little bit more alive.
