Crashes in menu and game.

I installed the game yesterday and tried playing with a friend, but it kept crashing every time I joined the lobby. I used Open Hardware Monitor to check a few things, and it looks like a problem with VRAM. I lowered all the settings to minimum and was able to play fine, even though I was using 2036/2048 MB. Once I loaded the game up today, it crashed when I tried to load into campaign. Upon reloading it, I checked the settings, and they had gone back to the default ones.

Every time I have had a crash, it has been when the VRAM goes to >2040MB. Clicking settings in the menu uses an additional 200-300MB that doesn’t get freed when you close settings.
Only other program running on the PC when Halo Wars is loaded is discord, and even with it closed there is no change. Specs are;

  • Intel i5-2500 - 16GB RAM - GTX 960 (2GB)On a side note, said friend has GPU with 8GB VRAM, and the game uses ~6GB in the menu alone. The game doesn’t seem all that efficient to me.
    Going to go to older drivers to check if that fixes it. Will keep you posted.

Tested with GeForce Game Ready Driver 376.33 and it no longer crashes. Now have FPS drops both in-game and during cutscenes, somewhere around the 25-35 FPS mark. VRAM usage still very close to limit, but a couple of MB lower than with the latest driver.

the fps drops are crazy i don’t know why, can they fix this please! -_-
