Okay I’m gonna go on a limb here and say I fragging hate the Spartan IVs. I remember a time where Spartans were actually treated as protectors of humanity. They had excellent armor, weapons, abilities, and lovable personalities. They were war machines but human. Until they created the Spartan IVs and made them into frat boys and jocks. They treat them like there glorified football players. And don’t get me started on the armor. The armor doesn’t look protective at all. I mean Locke looks extremely pathetic. The same with Osiris and the other Spartan IVs. Palmers a total dumsludge. The only credible armors are the Recruit, Air Assault, and the Mark VI. No wonder Halsey thinks these guys aren’t true Spartans. I miss the crotch plate. What do you think? Are the modern Spartans stupid or do you actually like them? Please don’t like them.

halsey think thorne as a true spartan and chief even said that they are spartans and the armor the reason why they look like that its the armor is not bulky like the gen 1 models

She said some more then others, she could have easily been referring to the genetically selected iiis and those that have those genetic markers who are now Spartan 4s. It’s ambigeos as -Yoink-. She never said Thorne was just alluded some more than other. All the Thorne fan took this as her acknowledging him.
Because we really needed another “Spartan-IVs suck!” thread…
You probably would like playing as a promethean soldier since they’re even more souless than the II’s ;p

As I say every time, a lot of people’s judgement of Spartan-IV’s as “jocks” comes from two actual Spartan-IV’s. At this point we have more examples of how diverse their personalities can be because, surprise surprise, they’re actual emotionally developed human beings.
Yeah because fireteam shadow who brought down a cruiser in Spartan Ops. There are litterally two examples of frat boys Demarco and Madison. And you said you didn’t like Locke but don’t like frat boys. Locke was a cool calculated soldier so what do you want out of the IV’s. And if you say Locke was boring he was a lot less boring than Master Chief in 1-3.

Don’t get why peeps think 2s are souless
The Gen 2 armours are more advanced, they’re smaller and sleeker because the technology has been streamlined. Look at the Mark V compared to the Mark IV, it’s bulkier because they stuffed more into it, then when they got to Mark VI they were able to reduce the size once more.
The black techsuits are also made of titanium, and given the same treatment as the rest of the armour to make them more resistant to Plasma weapons. What’s different is that it’s more flexible, allowing for a greater range of movement.
Disregarding the silly comment on jocks, the armour point is spot-on.
How do armours like Pioneer, Wetwork, Achilles and Seeker provide any measurable level of protection? Not only do they at best, provide a negligible amount of protection, but they are also adding unnecessary weight and reduce mobility for the wearer.
Furthermore, to use Achilles as an example, how is an AI that is actively trying to kill the wearer rated safe for someone to have in combat? How does ‘hyper-dense’ steel help in any way aside from adding more mass to weigh the soldier down (presuming it doesn’t mean hyper-dense matter as found in a neutron star)? What does the ridiculous spike on the top of the helmet do to aid the user? How does the visor on the seeker helmet have any kind of structural integrity when being hit by projectiles when you have holes for those ridiculous circle things coming out of the front and a visor that actually curves downwards?
After the war, the UNSC’s military-industrial complex was all but nonexistant and any kind of military equipment being brought out would need to be as efficient as possible. Hell, it took the Allies five years after the end of WWII to get back to normal lives (no rationing etc), and that was when the Allies won and most of them didn’t get too much damage done. How does an empire spanning 800 star systems, most of which were burnt to the ground, recover its economy and start making entirely new fleets and mass produce ridiculous armour designs within the space of four years?
Do the people that design and write the descriptions for these armour actually design the armour based off the combat type it fills, or do the concept artists just hand in the random scribbles they’ve been doing to see whether anyone bothers to check the designs?
Certain armors are intentionally made to be more like art and Achilles and legionnaire both look like Spartan armor as in original Spartan armor.
A good way to make peace with lots of the armor in halo 5 is to decide which armor sets are functional and which armor sets are art and “exotic”.
The seeker helmet is a example of a actual bad armor design, it’s a duck billed, useless visor, goggly eyed, boom box atrocity.
Seeker armor on the other hand is pretty solid.
Goblin is a prime example of a “exotic” armor, the helmet has a visor mouth and eye, and the armor looks like a exoskeleton.
On the subject of visor less helmets are the most practical helmets you can get since there’s no visor to break and it’s pure armor, but certain armors look significantly less cool since they have no visor.
Infriltrator is a pretty solid and badass visor less helmet and shows where the visor less design works, but engineer on the other hand could look so much better with a visor.
Good way to decide which armors are genuinely bad is to judge the armor and decide whether or not the armor your looking at goes into the group of functional armors or the group of artistic armors, if the armor goes into neither then it’s a bad design.
And a lot of the armor in halo 5 are what I consider “save-able” armors where if the armor overall has a solid design except for one big detail. A example of a “save-able” armor is the Nomad helmet which looks amazing overall but it has the big ugly nob on it’s fore head, get rid of that and it’s perfect.
TD;LR basically as long as you have a lot of ways of looking at the armors then you’ll learn to appreciate them more. Hell the seeker helmet can be cool since no one else wears it!
You must understand that the difference between the Spartan IIs and Spartan IVs personality really depend on how they were recruited and trained. If I were to abduct a 7 year old kid right now and teach him nothing, but discipline and war tactics I would get a Spartan II. If I were to recruit a 18 year old who has had an experience with loss and wanted to join to make a difference, I would get someone like Sergeant Avery Johnson, Former Gunnery Sergeant Buck, Spartan Thorne, Former Lieutenant Commander Locke, Spartan Tanaka and lots more. If I were to recruit a person who just wanted to do something for his nation, but as well to crack jokes and hang out with people, I would get Spartan Demarco, and Madison who are still great soldiers. We are all different, but all because the Navy Seals are more silly compared to Delta Force it doesn’t meant that they aren’t real soldiers.

It’s Madsen, by the way. And he became a Spartan-IV via nepotism.
If their armor looks cooler, it’s because they went over needing look like a box to protect themselves… though they do genuinely feel more glass cannon than the IIs (but their melee is better… for some reason)…
There’s a simple reason why the armours have less armour.
- So that Spartans can have faster movements - The shield technology has become so advanced that you don’t need armourIts better to have practical armour rather than cosmetically pleasing armour, Plus Spartan IIs where Spartan IV armour now so it must be good otherwise they wouldn’t use it.
