Crap Servers

So I’ve come to the conclusion that the Halo 4 servers are crap.

Today I got black screen 6 times in one game and in some games my friends couldn’t play. I would ask them why they weren’t moving and they would say I’m not in the game I’ve got black screen. The lag we had was just awful we couldn’t take 5 steps without being warped back to our last spot or being teleported into a wall.
My friends and I are thinking about selling our Halo 4 if these things continue.

I’m pretty much ventilating right now and I’m trying not to use vulgar words.
I just wanna know if this issue is going to be fixed or get worse and has anyone else gone through the same thing.

Halo 4 doesn’t have servers. Players “host” the games.

You probably experienced really bad host.

I don’t think i’ve had this problem in halo 4 yet.

We don’t have servers like Battlefield bro

By the way…-Yoink!- armor

he thinks halo games have used servers? lol thats cute. not since halo pc and halo vista maybe?? i dunno bout vista.

I’m pretty sure Halo 2 PC has Multiplayer servers.

To those who say it doesn’t have a server. Every game that has a matchmaking whether it be COD, Halo, Battlefield they all have a type of server. Battlefield has regular servers and dedicated servers. As for Halo and COD have host servers, a host server chooses someone to be the host and will use their connection to run that match.

In that case, I should be host all the time. I have some of the best net.
I only encounter a match or so of bad lag every 7 rounds or so. It’s not that bad for me.

This is Typical experience. I quit playing because of the Host Lag and went back to Halo Reach for my Halo Fix on June 6th.

No other multiplayer or co-op game lags like H4 does - 70% of my H4 Wargames games lag by 0.5+ seconds and many times what you see is normal. Playing co-op H4 Spartan Ops or Campaign was impossible.

By contrast Halo Reach and COD BOPS 2 almost NEVER play as poorly as H4 does. IF I play 20 games, 14 of them in H4 are lagged by 0.5+ seconds, in Halo Reach (with the “Good Connection” enabled) 1 game in 20 will have H4 typical lag. And this is with <1,500 people in the BTB lobby for Reach - versus 7,000+ in H4’s BTB Lobby.

The root cause is because the game set up servers do not pick the best host in each game - they pick based on Host History. The more games you played, the less likely you will ever be host. So a new player will always pull host because H4 has no history on them - regardless if they are in Antarctica and have a 56K dialup modem. The other issues include throwing players from around the globe into a single game (no spatial or language filtering) and no “Good connection” filter as in Reach or other games (like COD) have. And these issues I’m talking about were when H4 had 80,000+ players daily - I can only imagine what it’s like now with < 18,000 playing daily now (Reach had more than that online playing yesterday).

Best of luck trying to sell H4 too. Most of my local Game stores will not even take copies anymore and I have the LE version (biggest waste of $100 CDN I have ever spent - won’t happen again). You can’t even find a used copy of COD BOPS II for sale here, but you can get H4 for less than $20 New.

Guys, this thread is a year old… Just thought I might point that out.

Yeah, the guy who wrote the OP is the guy who necroposted after 10 months of inactivity to reply to some of the people’s comments! I guess he doesn’t come on here very often.

On topic:
Everyone knows there are no host servers, just servers that arrange the matchmaking, pick the host xbox and record the game stats.

Please don’t revive old threads, thanks.
