CR/SL vs. Railgun.

Concussion Rifle:
It seems a lot of people didn’t like the Concussion Rifle, meaning it was too weak a weapon compared to the Brute Shot. I beg to differ. The CR was in my opinion one of the greatest utility weapons in the series. The thing is, you have to be skilled to use it properly. On vertical maps, the skilled player is able to utilize this weapon to push enemies off ledges, killing them with gravity. Another good example is when a fully manned warthog is charging at you, a CR mag and frag combo works wonders, stopping the vehicle in its tracks, depleting shields and earning you a righteous triple kill. I have also used the CR as a “Gravity Gun”, hurling flaming wreckage and other masses at the enemy.

Spartan Laser:
Not sure here, but I think the Spartan Laser is a bit of a controversial subject. Some mean it’s too powerful, others say its too difficult to use. I, for one, believe that a power weapon that requires a bit of skill, is a good power weapon.

Railgun:
The new weapon, the Railgun, has been described as somewhat similar to the Spartan Laser, as it fires a direct, very powerful projectile at a straight trajectory, but with a charge-up time. The charge-up time is described as roughly half the time of the SL, and also the Railgun has the added benefit of stopping power, similar to the CR. In other words it has the power to send warthogs and other vehicles flying.

Is it just me, or does this sound like a “beginner-friendly” CR-SL crossing, and how do you feel about that?

Did the type have to be that big? I’m not 80 or looking at my computer screen from orbit!

I believe it is just the next skill power weapon. Especially considering that it has no smart-scope so it will be more difficult to use at longer ranges. And on top of that it was described as power similar to the brute-shot as far as moving objects with it goes, with a little bit of spartan laser thrown in. And plus the railgun is one-shot-reload in its current state. while yes the spartan laser takes skill, it is still capable of taking out ANYTHING in one shot. While the railgun will have to have a properly placed shot to take out even a ghost in one shot. The railgun is a skill-power weapon that STOPS vehicles leaving them open for team mates to shoot at. It is not necessarily a vehicle destroyer. (Because lets face it, you would probably rather take the vehicle than wreck it)

CONCLUSION: The railgun is simply a power weapon that requires a new skill set to use. Something we have to adapt to. It is not a “beginner friendly” weapon at all.

Sorry. screen is small.

Maybe you’re right. I’m gonna miss the Concussion Rifle though, as weird as that sounds.

The Railgun is new to the series for the sake of having technological advances noted throughout the Halo series. It is going to be a good weapon, for the sake of it being new.

I myself have never been a fan of the CR,the SL on the other hand…its just awesome.

The CR is so underestimated, and I love that. Countdown has a sword and a shotgun so it is a CQ fest, however with the Stopping Power on the CR you wreck their shields and health and knock them back.
I need to see the Railgun in action before I make a decision.
So does this mean Spartan Laser is not coming back? My favourite weapon!

Nah, your gun is still with us. Confirmed.

Brute Shot has slightly stronger melee, can destroy non-tank vehicles in 4 shots, players die in 4-6 shots or 1 shot plus melee, has a decent ROF and looks badass.

Concussion Rifle has normal melee, can flip but not easily destroy vehicles even with a few extra clips, players get thrown away from the blast making it hard to directly hit consistently, meleeing with it is likely to get you killed, has an even faster ROF(not that is helps much) and looks like a giant red fruit. Plus there are rarely any ledges to knock someone off with it so its knockback is meh.

So when it comes down to it, I want the Brute Shot. Not some weak copycat which is underused for a reason. I am lucky if I get a single kill out of its 6 shot clip. I am much more likely to pick it up because it flings vehicles instead of killing them.
